buy the part yourself and do it yourself.

check your pedal area for any leakage of fluids.. if there's any leak then it's the cmc

If you wanna go cheaper, you dont have to buy a new one. They can just rebuild. New gaskets. Lot cheaper.

no. order it from cflhonda and it comes with brake fluid (which is clutch fluid as well from memory) and it's 2 bolts and a butterfly clip. I'm not good with tools but I managed it fairly easily

^ pretty sure if you can buy a 20k car, you can spare 150-200 for a spare part... just get a brand spanker oem one.
don't bother rebuilding.

Most people have nice cars but nice loans attached - hence why people on here are always asking for the cheapest alternative to servicing , parts - tyres even !

Enough of that topic tho - OP Hannys would install a used part from a wrecker around the corner- they rarely have new parts in stock.

He is asking for a cheaper alternative. That was the thread. Its his car so you shouldnt assume financial status' of others. And there is nothing wrong with rebuilding it. ;)

Remember you must confirm that the walls of the cylinder are not scored in anyway ~ if they are , its a writeoff anyway.

Something to keep in mind that if it's still soft after swapping out the clutch master, that it could also be the clutch slave. But less likely... the master cylinders seem to go more often...

Rebuilding is not a bad idea. I realise we live in a disposable society but there is pleasure to be had in taking something apart, repairing it and reassembling.

And if the cylinder is scored you can usually re-hone with a very simple tool attached to a drill.

I can get CMC for 100, bnib oem honda.

fit it myself.

slave should be less than 100? never bought one.

get dome competant DIY'er on the forums to install for you.

both done for less than 300 easy I reckon.....

Workshops will use OEM parts and probably buy from Honda or another middle man. It would be hard to get both fitted for 3hunjy. Probs abit more. 400 mark maybe?

I would do it for 100 if he supplies parts and fluid, I just need someone to help me bleed.

my car did feel faster after it was fix..

due to the fact that my wallet was a lot lighter.. hence a little bit less weight on me..

less weight on the car, so therefore faster!

my clucth is super soft and does not get into gear at all... and there is no leakage anywhere ? what do i do?

AusS2000
15-06-2012, 04:40 PM
Get ready to lighten that wallet.

Seriously, have you checked the fluid in the master cylinder? Is it low? Is it black?

andyandy
15-06-2012, 07:08 PM
it is black ill take a photo! pretty low, is it just a matter of changing the break fluid, bleed etc. i think their might be air inside...

andyandy
15-06-2012, 07:22 PM
heres the picture. fluid is pretty low... is this the issue. its under the metal thing. http://oi46.tinypic.com/30kttz4.jpg

yeahhh i remember how my car felt before both master and slave cyclinder...

i remember my clutch pedal is feeling normal, but at times i couldnt engaged into gear...
when my car is in a stand still, and i try to get it to gear one... it wouldnt engage and it was the same for reverse... i sometime just stalled the car just so i could get it back to into gear while the car was off.

then one day, i got home, packed in the driveway and blocked both my parents and sister's car. They all needed to go, so I got in, step on my clutch and turn my car on. (i got to clutch start with my car)

and while doing that i heard a loud snap/crack! and game over!!

SLOBRO. Apt name.

Probably best to leave the advice to those that have a clue what they are talking about.

If one of the symptoms is trouble putting it into gear the issue isn't an old clutch. The problem is hydraulics.

Op ,

This is a common problem with many 00+ Hondas - s2ks and ep3/dc5's all seem to have failing master and slave cylinders.

One things for sure - they often fail after the other has been replaced - so replace BOTH at the same time.

my mechanic came to and he fixed it up somehow. bleed the system with new fluid. but he told me i can drive for a few months, then have a cmc ready on the side so if it happens he can install it straight away. thanks for the help boys!

You can replace the CMC and CSC with new OEM, secondhand, third party or even rebuild.

But if you want to really save money and effort, try servicing it every once in a while.
