Hello,
I have a 1990 Honda Civic GL Sedan 5sp, and it has a major oil leak and I cant see where its leaking from.
It seems to be leaking from above that blue part (see photos). When I turn on the car it does not leak, but after the car is running for a few minutes- it starts leaking.
""I have attached a link to a YouTube video and photos of the Civic""
** Does anybody have any ideas????
Cheers

Check the powersteering reservoir and see if its getting low. My guess is its leaking from the steering rack
Also a good way to pinpoint a leak is de-grease the whole engine top and underneath and hose it off at CarLovers and then you can trace the fresh leak more easily

the leak is not coming from the blue part (driveshaft), like the guy above just said de-grease the whole engine or wipe it with clean cloth that blue part and find the leak above it

Like everyone has said, its hard to tell with all the dirt. But, given the location, and nature of the leak, I'd suggest somewhere around the oil filter. Have you changed the filter recently? It could be either not screwed down tight enough, or not seated properly. But that's just a guess, its really hard to tell without actually seeing it.

Thanks for all the help,
*The leak is engine oil
*The oil filter doesn't seem to be leaking
Good news:
I think I've found where the leak is coming from as seen is this video below:

What is this part? How do I fix it?
Cheers...

That is your fuel pump. You will find it is actually your rocker cover gasket & more than likely distributor o-ring

I was going to say it also looks like the fuel pump is leaking.
But hit the engine bay with some degreaser and high pressure water to make sure where it is coming from.

Replace the fuel pump.

Cheers for all the help,
I'm pretty sure its the fuel pump (I see the oil coming from it). I thought the fuel pump only has fuel in it, not engine oil....
Anyways I'm getting a new one tomorrow.

It does have oil in order for it to be able to pump the fuel without excessive friction. Remember there are moving parts. They need oil.
After that degrease your engine bay and you will be able to see if there are any other leaks.

Thanks,
I have access to a degreaser and high pressure water-gun, what do I need to be careful about when using the water-gun and degreaser in the engine bay?
I'll keep everyone updated....

cover your dizzy with plastic bag lol and dont wash the top of the engine where the leads go if you have a pod filter and alarm cover those too the rest should be good degrease and wash away :)

What a dizzy? is that your battery?
This is my engine bay (yes I've put the oil cap back on) So you cover the parts in yellow?

The dizzy is the distributor. Just to the right of your battery. It has the spark plug wires coming from it.
Also just to be careful you should also cover up:
Spark plug holes
Alternator
All sensors and connectors
Use aluminium foil.
Disconnect your battery.

dont worry about the alternator its better to clean it than leave oil on it
the same with sensors
you just have to keep the distributor and spark plug leads dry
why aluminium foil lol just use plastic bags

I find aluminium foil is easier to warp to the shape of the component you're trying to cover.
I prefer not to get anything that has electricity flowing through it wet as there's a small chance of a short.
Clean the alternator with brake cleaner.
Clean the electrical connectors with a electrical contact cleaner and put a light coat of vaseline or HTG on them.

Why do you clean the alternator with brake cleaner? Hmm.
**Update**
I changed the fuel pump, it's not leaking oil from that part anymore- so much better.
But I did noticed something strange . When I looked at the seal between the pump and engine (where the gasket is) It looks like the oil/fuel around it has very small bubbles- but its not leaking .Maybe I need a new gasket or make the seal better?

Because brake cleaner is able to remove grease from components without using water afterwards. It won't damage an alternator.
Just make sure it's the non flammable type if you do this.

Cheers for that,
I used the aluminium foil (it sort of works, some of them came off when I was washing it). Its all clean now.
*Update*
No more leaks.... yah.....
