View Full Version : Car in gear but not moving
Hey guys, my friends car isnt moving when in gear.
She says it goes into gears but the csr just revs and does nothing.
Could it be driveshafts ? It just seemed to happen after a night on nebo :/
Ive driven the car before, clutch is strong. I doubt the clutch gave out.
Car is a delsol with a b16 and mfactory 4.9 final drive.
Thanks in advance.

sounds like driveshaft snapped
My cousins b16b also did this agoes ago with a car load of people. Did first to second and it stopped moving. It was a drive shaft problem also.
I just dont see an open diff car breaking it so easily. Its never seen a hard launch since shes had it
Thanks for the reply. Ill get her to.check it out.
Anyway to tell if the drive shaft is broken by jacking it up and spinning the wheels ?

jack car up, go underneath, they usually snap on the shaft collar that is closest to the gearbox so try and wiggle it around, if its snapped you will know
good luck
Thanks a lot man, ill let her know and get back to see how it goes.

If you are saying that she puts it in gear, releases the clutch as if she is taking off and you have no drive, I would be more inclined to say the clutch is not engaging correctly. A clutch can "feel" strong right up until the point it no longer engages

i think its the gearbox ... i would get it checked out. This happened to my parents honda CRV too.
But if the clutch is not biting then it wouldn't go in gear right ?

there would be slight jerking, car would eventually stall if you let off the clutch
plus they said clutch is good..

You'd have to have 2 snapped shafts and one hell of a racket for it to be the shafts

yeah happend while she was moving we dunno what happened it goes into gear fine we tried all that didnt think we checked to see if the clutch came out all the way or not but the car wasnt moving at all i thought it was the driveshaft or as someone else said the collar snapped, how is she going with it anyway get it looked over?
Im in brisbane now, finally looked at the car. The drivers side driveshaft is shagged, can see the booth on the hud side looking a bit out of shape. squeezed it and can feel the bearings and the spline shaft have popped out. Checked wreckers, and even called honda, they all had nothing.
Luckily Lan has one, so we're gonna pick it up this weekend, should only be a few hours work then all go again. Thanks guys !
oh btw, its only an open wheeler, no LSD so only one shaft gave way

happend to me,
the culprit was the fckin CLUTCH ...
if clutch is new, then send back for warranty as long as you havent been ripping it like a mofo hitting vtakk and burnin rubber ...

it was the shaft... was going to say it could be a seized brake, if it's not moving at all, but you've already figured it out :D

doesnt matter if its lsd or not, most likely only one shaft will be snapped
