hey guys, my mate is buying a 99 integra gsi with 180,xxx km on the clock.

paint is pretty immac and the engine still feels strong. getting it tested for compression and leak down tomorrow to find out exactly how healthy the engine is. will also check for bushings and engine mounts

the driver's side of the car has apparently been side swiped and was repaired through an insurance claim (aami). the door closes and locks but you can feel that it's not aligned properly. i have checked for any leaks but it visually looks ok.

has sunroof, central locking, power windows and mirrors (standard gsi). power windows both is still as strong as new.

rego runs out on 6th july so will need to fork out for new rego. rwc is provided. assuming good compression, would you pay $4,500 for it?

cheers

Good deal but I'd still rather buy a vtir for another 2-4g

^True, Better off with a Vti-R over any GSI, put it this way
gsi = b18b no vtec,
Vti-r = b18c2 vtec

I would shop around, If you get GSI you will regret not getting the Vti-r/Type r.

4.5k sounds great for all that in such good nick. Vti-R would be more powerful but it really depends what your friend wants out of the car, he may not need extra power in which case the GSi is perfect.

any links to a carsales ad or anything?

I would shop around, If you get GSI you will regret not getting the Vti-r/Type r.I'm more of the opinion that if you get the Vti-R, you'll just be wishing you had a real Type R. VTEC alone is not worth the '2-4k' premium over the GSi. They're both mechanically inferior to the Type R, so you may as well buy the one that's better value. VTI-Rs are very over-priced, because people like to think they have 90% of a Type R. They don't.

Agreed, GSI and VTiR aren't that different and both miles off the real ITR, but if the difference is $2g I'd rather have the better engine GBox personally. However that aside I've always said (to the disapproval of others) that the GSI is an underrated car and definitely quick/comfortable enough for what it is.

lawlll thanks i didnt know that b18b has no vtec

i thought all b series has vtec

im new to the honda scene

when i test drove the car i revd it to 9k

was told off by the owner for revving to hard

but it sounded like vtec so i was like yehh this car has vtec

must have an engine conversion then

thats good cos i save heaps of g's on labour

so i dont care if its a gsi

i like the car because its black and its cheap

so i bought it

thanks for the help mayn

Pic of engine? Even a vtec b won't rev to 9,000 unless the engine is modified.

Why would you rev it in to 9krpm for
Usually if the valve cover doesn't say VTEC there isn't VTEC
