I have a civic si my11, just thinking to change to the type r seats, but there are a few things i want to know.
Installation... is it easy to DIY or is it better to get it installed by a professional for safety reasons? since its got airbags, if so, roughly how much?
thanks

i say its a straight forward DIY installation, disconnect the battery before you install the seats. Their are some cases that the seats can deploy being unplugged in or out. Connect the wires from the si to the fn2r seats, its as simple as that, also line up the mounting points of the rails and screw them down. Make sure you the correct tools if you plan to DYI, thats the number one thing i say.
Mighty car mods on youtube as an installation video that might give you insight installing aftermarket seats. Just search "mighty car mod aftermarket seats" on youtube and you should find the video.

i think it's a direct bolt on.
Dunno about your airbags though, you might end up with an airbag light which you need to cancel with a resistor, and you might have issues with insurance and warranty too

Insurance and warranty is one of my main concerns. gonna call up the dealer tmrz and find out. do u think if i provide the seats, will they do the installation?

will probably charge you an arm and a leg just to remove a few bolts and put the new seat in..

well, i may consider if that could keep my warranty going. of coz, it will still depends on the price and if i can afford it. since the seats itself will cost quite a bit

trust me it's an easy job, not much more complicated than changing your shift knob
just call and ask about warranty on the electrics and airbag systems. Should be good i'd imagine

it'll affect whatever warranty the modification has effects on, such as other airbag components and potentially electricals.
