If your not loosing coolant or overheating.. Possibly need to replace your thermostat.

IV73CI, thank for the reply!
It's not overheating..I haven't checked if it is loosing coolant or not. But technically, if it losing coolant, shouldn't the temp gauge be going up? because the car wont be receiving adequate cooling?
Correct. But if the thermostat is constantly open then it will keep your temp gauge low but doesnt necessarily means that your not overheating or loosing coolant... Fluids just keeps circulating.
How hard is it to replace a thermostat and how much would it cost? + labour?
Thermostat oem approx $15-30 + new 5L coolant $25 + labour 1-2hours $100-150
But if you do it yourself you save labour and its easy to do.
Also your temp sensor or temp gauge could possibly be the other culprit.
Do the basics first champ.

When u jump in the car and u got the heater going and u got air from outside coming in the car won't reach temp as quick as it would on a warm day with no heater on.
Last couple mornings have been freezing and my car won't reach normal temp for the entire 10min drive. But in summer it would
no.. because it will always eventually open properly if its working properly.
its your thermostat man.. just get it fixed exact thing happened to me.

Sounds like thermostat is on the way out and is either staying open or just closing occasionally. Are you using more petrol than normal?
It's a simply DIY job.
Where do you live? I'm happy to do it for you if you're in Melbourne.
Happened to me last week, replaced thermostat $60 from honda plus coolant $25.. easy job, problem solved, car gets warm in 5 mins.

Same thing happened to me aswell in the ek9, I thought it was like that, whilst cruising temps stayed on c, at the lights or idle it would go up!
Went to repco and found a nice tridon radiator cap for 37 bux, design actually looks more better then oem Honda stuff (oem binded where the rubber seal meets the thermo housing)
Where as the tridon one is all copper and less cramped
If you have any other q&a just ask!
