Another car that is certainly a crowd favourite amongst the Silvia fraternity is the SX Developments S15 and the car has undergone a full makeover since clocking a credible 1.39 .6 at World Time Attack 2011.

This car has been built by the owner James Anderson with the assistance of Andrew Handmer who has been involved in the car’s development at every step. This is not a fully fledged workshop car, rather the passionate hobby of its owner James with Andrew and his SX Developments workshop lending a hand in much the same way that Scorch racing do with Suzuki-san.

It is also important to note this is not a pure race car, it is street driven and will stay that way. James would also like to thank Wayne and Andrew Sutton for their support over a very concentrated 3 months of chassis work!

For 2012 the car includes a whole new engine package with not only more horsepower but also improved throttle reponse, a fully seam welded body with a road legal steel roll cage a Topstage Carbon bootlid, a Sunline racing bonnet and Vertex Ridge widebody kit sprayed in Vivid white. SX developments have manufactured the front splitter and rear diffuser in house and the car rolls on Volk TE37 superlaps with Hankook Ventus Z221 tyres.

The suspension is by Bilstein and the brake package is R33 GTR Brembo. With such a comprehensive array of improvements, we have no doubt the team will see times lap times tumble and the nights of hard work they have put in pay off!

Andrew Handmer had set up SX Developments as a side job with a focus purely on race cars. The workshop operates more as a club and a race team rather than a normal mechanical shop.

Located in Hornsby NSW, SX Developments aims to be a one-stop-shop for serious race car development – combining the usual mechanical work and performance modifications with custom design, fabrication and electronics. Extensive experience setting up/packaging SR20s for track work, suspension / braking upgrades, aero packages, engine conversions and even electric vehicles are specialities. All types of vehicles are catered for, with experience across a wide array of brands/manufacturers, while obviously focusing on Nissan’s light weight rear wheel drive S-series cars.

Andrew has worked on various race teams, and built several race and track day cars, as well as looking after countless track oriented cars in the past. Some of these include a successful drift car, a BMW Super Touring car, a very fast naturally aspirated track S13 Silvia (known as ‘Hello Kitty Silvia’) that beat most of its turbo counterparts in its day, motorcycle engined race cars (Radical etc), Clubmans, and electric powered motorcycles. SX Developments is concentrating more and more on time attack racing, with a vision of playing an integral part in developing some of the fastest cars in Australia.
