if its a b16a it should be the same as all the others, so i think redlines at 8000rpm

Gen1 b16a heads will have DOHC in larger font than VTEC, whilst Gen2 has DOHC written in smaller font than VTEC
if it is a b16a2 then check out my thread at http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14743
for redline info

Aus Del Sol B16A2:
Peak torque - 7000rpm
Peak power - 7600rpm
Cut out - 8200 (I think? Just over 8000 redline, I have felt it)

Just looking around. Looks like early model Delsols are B16A2 and later models B16A3's.

anyone know what the peak torque/power would be for the b18c from a teg SiR?
i'm guessing it would be pretty similar

I'm finding it a bit hard to believe what info is true and what is false. DAM U NEIL screwing with peoples heads :P. Anyway since when did del sol come out in 97? Is this for a real or just another load of bulltwang?

As for u Loz does this look like the integra section to you :P

Thought i would bring up oldschool thread...is the redline on a b16a the same in a delsol and a civic? and is it 8400rpm rev limiter? also what rpm can you take the limiter too..but still have a reliable engine?

vinnY
01-07-2009, 12:48 PM
afaik the ek4 is 8000rpm redline and 8200rpm fuel cutoff
wouldn't bother upping the rpm on a stock b16

reedyek4
01-07-2009, 12:54 PM
so in order to benefit from high RPM you would need to upgrade cams, pullys internals etc?

ECU-MAN
01-07-2009, 01:02 PM
yep,

no point reving it up there is power is dropping off.

you have to also consider your valve train. ( very inmportant )

So ideally fully forged internals also would be ideal?

I think what ECU-MAN means is that you had better change the valves, retainers, springs etc in the head before thinking about putting a stage 2/3 cam set in. You can do bottom end as well, but the stock internals on a B16A can handle a decent amount of power/torque before they give...If you want to rev to 13k like my mates one then do all the above!

i have a b16a out of a del sol 1993 model and its a b16a the redline is aproxx 8300 rpm but im not sure about the cut off iv only went up to 9000 and it was still pushing lol

Why do you really want it to rev higher??
If your going to be doing mods to your car the best thing for you to do is to do them and go straight to your tuner, he will tune your car and look at the graph. From there you will be able to see your cars peak power point, if its at about 7200rpm then whats the point in revving the crap out of it to 10,000rpm?? Your just loosing power.

Take mine for example, its peak power point is at 7,600rpm and i asked the tuner to make the valve bounce at 8,200 (Which is stock). Theres no reason for me to even take it to 8,000. The rev limiter is just there for safety just incase you forget to shift or something.........

surely then if you got the engine tuned to give power at 10k then you are not loosing power..i`m sure its an option to have youre power band that high?

Yea of course, if your engine is capable of making peak power at 10,000rpm then go for it lol but it also needs to be safe power......

Im just trying to say, if your cars peak power isnt anywhere near 10,000rpm then theres no advantage of revving that high, it more a disadvantage in a way.

You seam like your not too sure what mods your wanting to do, have you got any real plans yet?? Go for the snail lol you cant loose.....

Your right man i`m not sure what i want to do yet lol...3 options i am looking at for in about 6 months time:

- turbo b16a, full worked internals, new ecu and all turbo stuff (larger exhaust etc)

- turbo b18, stock internals witha few bolt ons

- k20a with few bolt ons, (exhaust, individual throttle bodies etc)

Your cheapeast option i reckon would be the built b16 because you already have the motor in the car, would make good power too.
But a b18c would be fun, you could run it stock with a turbo and make awesome power (over 200kw's) if you run the right setup, the plus with a b18 is that you could always build it in the future and run high boost!

I would personally go a boosted b18 over a n/a k20 any day, each to their own though!

i mean end of the day i want something with driveability so a k20 may cause issues in that department, and yeah a boosted b18 is probably the most likely option as i can stay off boost and achieve drivebility...
