Gday all,

Just a quick note to pass on a recent silly stupid mistake that I made recently regarding a spark plug change.

I bought some plugs for my NSX and the supplier provided NGK BKR6EIX plugs. I wrongly trusted that these were correct. I then supplied these plugs to change at the Honda dealer who didn't check the gaps either (I could have changed the plugs myself but since a major service was done including a valve adjustment, I got them to do the plugs too).

However, the car was driving a bit underpowered afterwards. Whilst looking into potential issues, I stumbled upon coil packs being potentially a cause but during reading a thread, I read that the correct plugs were BKR6EIX-11.

Notice the additional '-11' at the end. This effectively meant I had .8mm gap plugs in the car vs the 1.1mm it should have.

So moral of the story, don't trust others, double check..........

I installed the proper plugs on the weekend and she purrs again. :)

Glad to hear you found the cause of the problem, Its not fun when you get the wrong parts but unfortunaty even the parts guys make mistakes from time to time..

Haha....I do get a bit of attention from other service customers......a few comments from the staff.... But as they do see NSXs once in a while, it's not THAT special.

However, they did put only one guy on the car for the whole week who has been around since the early 90s. They also treated her well understanding she is my baby and just had a 5 hour detailing service. :)

they would have sure treated it well on the road test. I know I used to. :)

Ah, the risk comes with leaving the keys I guess.....couldn't be there for her all week. As long as she wasn't molested and warmed up.

thats right, there is a difference there, what you may call a thrashing may well be just what the car was built to do., there is a clear differencene between a safe hard drive and abuse as you mention.
