VSS compatability

Are all the Honda VSS's the same?
sorry if it sounds stupid but just need to determine which to buy, they are only like 20bux on ebay though.

does it depend on tansmission and speedo cluster type?

It just depends on the tranny. And yes they are different. Some are plastic, some are metal and the mounting holes are different.

ehh, i cant figure out what tranny this engine i mated to,
wiki says its a y21 but also says the engine only came in auto ek4sir2 but this is a manual tranny so would they use a manual y21 from a ek4 sir2 manual?

It has to be on casting of box some where. Its like d series box the P20 stamped all over means nothing, but s20- b000 does, and that number is hidden on box.
