Is it possible to just remove the housing off the car? I have my new gear box on the way and I'm just wondering if I'm going to have to go through the whole process of removing the gear box. I have a workshop manual but it only states for when the gear box is out has anyone done it and is it simple to do?

I have removed my box from the car and put it back many times without pulling the engine out... so yes that can be done ! Having said that my car is for the track and is way easier to access than the road going Integra.

If you are getting a rebuilt or 2nd hand gearbox coming you should get the bell housing with it

Im getting the entire gear box but the only issue is the outter housing is cracked so i just wanted to know if i can just pop the housing off and smack the new one on instead of pulling the whole gear box out.

I would say no.... whilst on the car
Take the box off the engine and then swap the case over when you have the box on a bench.

Big pain in the butt mate, lots of fiddling round and if you don't know what you're doing I wouldn't recommend this as a learning exercise, especially if it's your daily.

Unless you can leave your car jacked up massively high for many days on end then I'd just dump it all off at a tranny shop and get them to change it all over.

I have done a couple of boxes before on my pulsar and laser. Just thought it would be easier but I'll take the advice and rip the whole box out.

Cheers
