I would love to see that car with some G35 skyline style lights... front looks too much like a euro and i'd rather it was a hatch. nice tho!

THought I was looking at another Odyssey from the first front end pics.
Doesn't look good as a coupe IMO.

Nevertheless, guess I could grow to like it.

hahaha wots the point its not like we'll get it in Aussie

McChook
12-02-2005, 12:52 AM
Well, I perosnally LOVE IT. The black Headlights look MEAN... its a bold style, but it is the Si Coupe Concept, not the hatch or sedan which will likely be available

It is like the Si Coupe will replace the Tegs - its speculation at this stage, but it may well happen

I agree with the 206CC look, first thing I said to myself

Its a very out there look - I think we will likely see this car here no matter what, since it is going to be JAPANESE built car, I think we will get it...

12-02-2005, 03:48 AM
The front looks like a mini Oddysey... Overall it does look like a 206

Wats the chances of that landing in OZ.. pretty slim chance.. But there is hope... Same as if they are gonna keep that middle exhaust onto the production car... If it does it will be the first honda with a middle exhaust from factory...

change the rear lights and i'll be in total awe...

looks good though already as it is...
now to get on with a new integra design ;)

I agree. I believe australia will get it, if they are taking the teg away they will need a cheaper sporty car for the market..

12-02-2005, 01:22 PM
its ok looking....the only futuristic looking car i like is the RX8...all the others such as this one look plain...and yeh are they trying to make another Lude vs teg here and one of them gets killed ?

**Ghost**
12-02-2005, 02:14 PM
Well the only thing going for new cars is that import taxes are lower so manufacturers might be more willing to send their cars to Aussie. DOnt count on it though. And besides who sez we'll get a good engine for it neway? : )

hahaha i've given up on hondas and other jap cars compeltely... next car is going to be european hatch

looks like an oddysey coupe to me :)

I still think the 1992 Civic coupe was the best looking one...

skoota
13-02-2005, 10:10 AM
Like most have said, got the Odessey/Euro treatment, but that might be the front Honda is now going for - they usually have similar front lights on nearly all cars they release at one time.

I like it, i guess, EK is still the best looking Civic IMO and they gotta do something about this exhaust - don't like that. And still not sure about the rounded back with the wing - it's nice, but they can do better I think.

This car also reminds me a little of the Audi TT.

that car is awesome would definately buy it. THey should remove that wing and bring the car a lil lower to the ground. It looks like a bubble shopping trolley at that height.

08-03-2005, 12:06 PM
I'm thinking more CRX'ish than civic (for the AUD market). I think a hatch would look better, but that wing makes it look like a chicks car... haha

Looks pretty good i think. A baby DC5R might look like this IMO. If had my way i'd make it a little edgy-er, is a little too rounded, especially at the rear and is a bit too narrow.

It's so bloody long! Honda already have the Accord and Integra, why not keep the Civic as a neat small-medium car? I've seen a pic of the 06 Civic hatch and it looks great. I hope they keep it small and sporty. None of this 7/8ths sized people mover crap.

OK I've been told by a HONDA SALESPERSON that just came from a briefing that APPARENTLY the 2006 Civic Model Lineup in AUSTRALIA will include:

4-Door Sedan.
5-Door Hatchback.
2-Door Coupe.

The 4 and 5 Door's will be powered by a newly developed "K18A" however the coupe may get the K20 but this is still under negotiation.

That is what I was told.. I havnt heard about any K18A motor and when you consider that Pulsar and other cars in the civic's class are powered by a 2.0L, I would have thought HONDA would introduce the K20's to Aussie civic's. Another Rumour I have heard is that the K18A is a SOHC i-VTEC motor but once again most other manufacturers have 2.0L DOHC motors on offer.

Rumoured from the briefing that a new CRX version may be available in Australia in 2007, but once again havnt seen any official press release.

More rumours are that the Civic Type R will be of the 5-Door variety and with a 2.2L motor.. once again just a rumour.

^^v
11-07-2005, 11:21 PM
just coz the other manufacturers will have bigger displacement engines... doesnt necessarily mean it'll be better... n depends on how u rate an engine... if its power .. fuel economy.. or all round good performance...

this may sound like a dum question but when does the 2006 civic go on sale? cos normally a new year model for example 2006 models in HK/Japan get sold like around 2 months before the end of the prev year... like 2005 october

VT3C
13-07-2005, 03:17 PM
']rumours of new crx's have been coming for 10 years:rolleyes:

derrrrr.. far out you guys get all HARDCORE on here so easilly..

the reason for my post as it was news out of a Honda Sales Boardroom Meeting.. so might have more weight to it that what you read on the fkn internet.

AS for WHEN ? well Honda Australia is doing it's run-out/stocktake sales.. and generally MY2006 cars are released in October 2005.. however not sure if HONDA will be doing this or waiting till next year for Australia.

Jeff and I drove a number of 2006 Civics on Thursday. We have a vast amount of information from Honda and an initial driving impression of several models, including the Si. Stay tuned to the TOV at 12:00.01 08/31/2005 for a flood of information on all the new Civic models.

well according to the Eastern Honda dealership we are only getting the sedan because its the only civic made in thailand... would cost too much to ship the other models to australia from UK/America

we are gettign 3 different engines, being the R18 (1.8L SOHC i-vtec 105kw, a hybrid and an unconfirmed engine)

dont get excited tho, word is that the unconfirmed engine is going to be a diesel, so we aint getting a hot sedan like the eg9 (or was it EF9 i forget)

and in further news the teggy is going outta production in 2006 (expect run out sales) and there are no replacements for a affordable sports car

so basically honda will be = nissan...a dealership full of staid, boring cars with the only car u want (the s2k) being unaffordable

meh, not as hot as the older civics, but that is a path honda chose long ago.

shame it seems we wont get the hotter models or engines, but we always get stuffed around with in australia.

to be honest i dont think the sedan pic above is too bad, but not something i would buy as there are plenty of nicer cars other than honda these days...

the hatch, even normal version woulda been good,

but then again the jazz is honda's hatch/small car now... i think they arent releasing the civic hatch in fear of competitino with the jazz

civic has become the new "accord" mid sized family sedan...with the current accord moving upmarket

A press conference is scheduled for September 13th from 11:15 (CEST), at the Honda booth.

The New Civic for Europe
This eighth generation of the vehicle promises to set new standards in the highly competitive European C-segment and particularly in its premium sector. The new Civic is remarkable in that the transformation from concept to production has seen little change to the exterior design.

The new Civic combines striking styling with clever packaging. A dynamic wedge-shaped cab-forward design is key to the new model; however, flexibility and packaging have not been compromised. The tandem distance*, which is a key indicator of in-car roominess, is on a par with some larger D-segment contenders. Utility is provided by rear seats that have a one-motion, dive down feature instantaneously creating a flat loading space, as well as a unique cargo floor that can either conceal items stored beneath it or be dropped down to reveal the under-floor compartment.

The new range is available with a choice of three engines, all making their debut in the Civic. The 1.8-liter is a completely new unit and benefits from innovation in the i-VTEC system and promises fuel economy on a par with that of a 1.5-liter engine but the off-the-line acceleration equivalent to that of a 2.0-liter. The range will also feature Honda’s acclaimed 2.2 i-CTDi diesel engine, which will establish a new benchmark in the segment, and a 1.4 i-DSI (intelligent-Dual and Sequential Ignition) unit producing no more than 143 g/km of CO2.

Honda has ensured that the new car will be one of the safest in its class and the model benefits from standard features such as ABS with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and an innovative seat belt reminder system for the rear passengers. The company expects that the new Civic will achieve Euro NCAP ratings of 5 stars for front and side impact safety, 3 stars for pedestrian safety and 4 stars for child protection safety.
