This is NOT A DIY GUIDE! It is merely for informational purposes to show what I have done and what I could have done. If for whatever insane reason whatsoever you decided to make your lights look like mine, be sure to know that neither myself nor Ozhonda take any responsibility for the outcomes of someone else doing the following. You follow these steps at your own risk! Of course, if you feel like getting involved in a legal dispute note that the appropriate jurisdiction will be Berlin, Germany.

I didn't want to get rid of my third brakelight (Mommy with daughter - safety consious). So I decided to do a third brakelight just like the EP Hatches have. The EP Hatch Brakelight doesn't work for us though. Or at least not, if you wanna do everything yourself and don't have a shop or garage at your disposal.

Needed:

- LOGO Brakeligth OEM Honda Stanley with SAE and E13 Certification
- Dremel
- black Silicon
- 2 metal screws

Dremel along the red lines.

Put cover on light and place on upper hatch panel facing the correct way. Melt a hole for the wiring (Melting works really well on plastic parts) and 2 small holes for the screws. Drill those directly through the side clips.)

Then put black bathroom silicon around the light where it meets the panel. You can connect the spoiler connector to the end or hardwire it on the car itself. I went for the connector approach.

Now take the thing to the car.

Take wire and pull through the frame.

Connect to wiring and pull wiring through frame to connector.

Put ends in connector and plug both halves together.

Put in hole and replace grommit.

Install panel as usual only with third brakelight this time.

Simple and efficient and legal. Yes, legality is very important over here in Germany. Don't want to get your car defected :-)

Did another installation. Is a bit less likely to look perfekt, because the cover leaves a much bigger gap to the glass than a logo or colt brake light. Mitsubishi and Mazda use Imasen lights with I prefer to another brakelight that will have the brand like Toyota on it.

Anyways, Honda SiR Cluster is made with mitsubishi gauges so I don't have a problem with a mitsubishi brakelight and if I don't have an issue with Imasen, I can use Mazda as well (girl reasoning ;-) .....)

*and yes, I did put the rear shield washer into my EK9 Wing.

Mitsubishi light to follow.
And yes, both of the imasen lights are SAE and E certified as well.

I try to do things as OEM looking as possible. Can you take a picture of your set up and post it here as well. I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

please add the disclaimers

??? What disclaimers? Since you're a mod, how about adding them since you know whatever needs to be put in? Legally no disclaimer is needed ... but if you feel this thread is violating forum policy, feel free to remove it.

@vtc, check this thread for the taillight upgrade, however, I did not install secondary brakelights in the bottom because I need tht space for the rear fog light.

Hm, I like to notoriously avoid rules and regulation or terms and conditions. I reckon I mod differently and considering that germany is much more restrictive it strikes me odd that down under things are worse than where I usually hang out.

So, actually I have a better idea to mask the cut off plastic edge: instead off using silicon to seal border, use black silikon hose cut open in straight line and put around the cut-off edge. Should do away with any blemishes ;-) Will try that and take a detail pic.

Does anyone know where I would be able to get a brake light like the one posted in the first post in Australia (happy to even order it from overseas). I have been looking for something like this for ages and no one stocks anything like it. Even google searches drew a blank!

Help would be appreciated.

You wont be able to find the one mentioned in this thread (ie the one off the Honda's), but any third brake light will do (ie find a style that you like and it should only have two wires to connect).

Other than the one posted, AFAIK Honda never made a top mounted 3rd brake light that was mounted inside the cabin.
