View Full Version : Rear lower control arm bushes / possible replacement? PICS PICS PICS

Hey all, so I saw a Civic a few months ago with this awesome looking anodized red rear control arms, that looked something like this (except an EM1 Coupe);

I was fortunate enough to crash my car a couple of weeks ago and purchase myself a black EM1 coupe;

When I purchased the car I had it inspected and was told that the lower control arm bushes were cracked and in need of replacing. The question I have now is what would the costs associated with this be and is it possible I could replace the entire control arm with an anodized red one similar to the one in the above photo? There is also a knocking sound in the rear suspension when going over bumps at low speed, could it possibly be related to this?

There are plenty of items floating around on eBay such as this (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/96-00-HONDA-CIVIC-EK-JDM-LOWER-CONTROL-ARM-LCA-FRONT-UPPER-REAR-CAMBER-KIT-RED-/221032977114?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item33769792da). Would this be a sufficient replacement or should I stay clear of these?

look up "function 7" parts - sold by a few traders on here i believe.
They are shiny and blingy...do NOTHING for performance (weight saved etc) and probably arent very strong for an impact scenario.....hit a gutter etc.
They look cute though. Which is what you want , right ?

i would just replace it with another oem with better bushings.

replacing the bushings is a pain in the ass as you have to take out the whole LCA and hammer down the bushing to take it off from the assembly and same way of putting the new ones back. Much better to just get a whole new replacement (LCA) to just plug and play it, saves you time.

When the RWC was done for my car before I bought it, the guy told me it cost him $500 to replace the LCA bushes which were split. (I didn't pay for it) I have no idea whether to believe that or not however.

Just wanting to confirm, would it be cheaper then to pay to have to LCA replaced with an aftermarket one than $500 to have the bushings replaced?

If you want the flashy red lca's, look at black works racing and other cheaper brands like that. For a bit more than $500 you could purchase a hard race bush set and have all the bushes in your car replaced

The Bushes aren't expensive, it's the labour! Cute LCA ftw! If it breaks, buy another set - still cheaper than OEM! But in all honesty, you won't break a piece of metal unless you curb it or something..

It literally takes 3 minutes to change out the LCA on each side. Do it yourself and save some bangers!
