View Full Version : Cricket/Chirping sound when revving/driving
Hey guys, I was driving back from uni today and I hear a sound coming from the front end of the car and it didn't go away. It sounds like a high pitch cricket/chirping sound. So i pulled into a side street to see where it is coming from. When it is idling the sounds gone but when I rev past 2000 RPM the sound starts.
I tried taking out the intake and re-installing it, as i removed the intake a couple days ago to test fit another intake, but the sound is still there. I also checked everywhere under the hood to see if there's anything loose but couldn't find anything wrong
Cheers guys!

how does it idle ? rough ? does it make the noise when it idles?
It idles normally, it only makes the noise when you rev it past 2000rpms and while your driving

you should follow the sound when you can make it happen to find out where its coming from.

Catalytic converter had it?
Sounds like that or some exhaust vibration
With the car cold, thump the cat with your hand and listen for rattles

Well if it was a dc2r I can tell you that it sounds almost the same as mine, and that sound would be from one of the intake arm bolts.
Something to do with it seating on an angle therefore there's a gap and you get that whistling cricket sound.
Good luck

Didn't get time to try it today, but the sound stopped after loosening the bolts that hold the intake
Thanks anyway mate!

I loosened and adjusted the bolts on the intake and that fixed the problem, thanks mate!
