With bub #1 on the way it's out with the Mazda6 and in with the classiest people mover around. Tomorrow we're picking up a super-clean '05 Odyssey with 83k on the clock. I've had a quick squizz about but can't find anything about service schedule. Am I up for a major service at 90k? 100k? Probably should just wait and have a look in the handbook I guess ;)

And can't believe there's no dedicated Ody forum....???

Cheers,
Phil

Time to change the spark plugs at 100k. The Odyssey uses Iridium spark plugs

K24 uses timing chain so there is no timing belt to change.

Well the best time to change the oil transmission is in 30k unless you have a new automobile that is loaded with Dexron III ATF which is expected to be excellent for 100,000 miles.

So three weeks behind the Ody wheel and we're lovin' it. Smooth ride, heaps of space...road noise is a fraction more than I was expecting, esp in about the 40km/h-60km/h range. But no biggie, maybe needs better rubber. Gonna do an oil change this weekend. The handbook says 'a special wrench is required to remove the filter.' How special? A strap wrench won't get it off?

I dont think it needs a special wrench. Just your standard oil filter wrench will be fine. personally, i like having the ones that fit the oil filter like a box socket, then use a 1/2 or 1/4" drive socket to undo

If u dont have any of the above,

A ghetto style way to get the oil filter off specially when the ****er wont budge is use a long flat head screw driver and hammer/mullet and puncture the oil filter on one side and once punctured use the flat head as a tool to remove it.

Just dont get the flat head screw driver all the way in.. Just enough that its head is in.. Lol

Always works for me especially when the ****en thing is stuck.

But remember to drain the oil first..

Yeah heard about that ghetto method but never had to do it before. Was able to get the Ody one off by hand, and just tightened the new one by hand also. One thing though - she took closer to 5 litres of oil rather than the 4.2 listed in the handbook...?

Well on my driveway, which I now realise has a very slight slope, it shows about 2/3 on the dipstick...but at the carpark where I checked it today, which as best I could tell was flat, it shows a bit above full :o:o:o lol, should be okay

above full should be ok, just next time dont put all of the 5L oil in .. :) do you have or know of any oil leaks on the ODC?
