Hi guys,
Ive just had my 80,000km major service done today. Costing me a total of $911 including steering fluid + wiper blades + engine flush and other stuff.
He suggested that new fluid needs to be put into steering and transmission oil. I gave him the go ahead for the steering fluid, and he mentioned that there has also been an oil leak which he guessed it could be the transmission oil, which is why i didnt get it changed.
WHen i went to the workshop he suggested that i might need a transmission rebuild "thats why your car dosent change gears as well, feels a bit jerky" I totally disagreed with what he said. I reckon the transmission on my car is the fastest, tightest, smoothest gear changing car ive ever been in even up to now when i took the car for the service.
Transmission rebuilds are costly and cant believe it already needs a rebuild at 80,000kms when the car isnt even triptronic and never been thrashed. Should i be getting this rebuild or should i wait it out to see if my transmission fails. Just dont see why i need to pour large sums of money that seems to drive fine.. Or is this a way for mechanics to make money? Just like i dont think my steering fluid needed changing even though the steering was fine?
Any thoughts and opinions please share!
Thanks!
