Hey guys, I just want to get an idea how much I'll be looking at to rebuilt my block? When I hit around 4500rmp black smoke will come out alots from my exhaust.. I was told that my piston ring is warm out. My budget max would be 4g. Is that more then enough for a rebuilt block? Cheers guys

Yes that's what I'm planning to do. Probably the best way to go if I want more power. What do you guys think? B20 block over b18c block?

The Dyno at msc is setup for rwd. Reads less. Dw about how much kw atw. I'd start with a compression test and a leak down test. A relatively good condition b18c7 will push out a reading of 200+ psi per cylinder for the compression test.

And a leak down test of no more than 10% leak. 15% might be ok. There's a lot of videos on YouTube on how to diagnose using the leak down tester.

Goodluck. 4g is enough to rebuild with forged internals.

Thanks for nice comment buddy. I've got the compression test and leak down test before and it wasn't looking good.. Also my engine wasn't in a very healthy as well, when I lOok at my block it got all oil over the oil pan... One of the guy on ozhonda have got a fresh/built b20 block for sale so I might be looking towards the b20..

what kind of treatment did the engine receive to wear out a piston ring?

what i meant was: I'm quite surprised that its got a worn piston ring already. assuming its been maintained properly.
