would like to hear your thoughts...looking at getting an ep3r as my everyday car, something to get me from a to b...but also nice to drive and has good fuel economy and from the reading ive done the ep3r ticks all those boxes :) last honda i had was an s2000 which was a great car which i sadly sold after losing my license for an extended period of time :s atm i have a nissan s15 as my project/weekend car although its been off the road a long time lol...my main question is how is the reliability on the ep3r?? because the s2000 did need a fair bit of upkeep clutch, gearbox etc and expensive maintanance at that!! so is there any common problems with them...like the clutch noise on the s2k? just really looking for a nice car that i wont have any trouble with

majority of us run into steering rack squeeking, engine mount issues and if theres an autowatch alarm system on it. its gonna make the immobilizer go off which causes your car to shut down whilst your driving. other then that you're sweet.

they're all easy fixes. steering rack can be regreasted. engine mounts can be changed and autowatch alarm can be replaced with another alarm system.

you'll also hear a screech during cold mornings but thats normal for a k20a apparently.

steerng rack is the most common issue as it annoy the hell out of you!

not unless you get the 04/05 model ep3-r!

i read that they eliminated the steering rack problem

Since I regreased my rack Ive had no issues with it whatsoever. I think that is just a 20 to 50k maintenance thing.
Ive had no other issues with the car at all apart from any aftermarket stuff like coilovers and thats it, apart from the screech on cold morning startups. I guess thats due to the metal cog shrinking during cold mornings and not catching the plastic ring good enough on the starter motor.

i dont know about the autowatch immobilizing when you drive, havent had that happen to me? probably a fault wiring job from the guys at IMG?

but do check for Rust and Engine mounts, as the common mounts that split/crack are the front and driver side.

and rust would determine whether it has been driven in the snow or not in japan.

but your best option is to have a read of the ep3 buys guide that Johno wrote up awhile ago really helpful and helped alot in selecting my ep3

They are also known to have 2nd gear grinding/scratch and sometimes will not go into 2nd, but honda MTF fixed the lock out issue. The drivers side mount is known to split easily, I suggest changing them to poly mounts. The clutch cylinder is also quite squeaky which can be fixed with a little grease. Other than that and what the others mentioned here; normal regular maintainance should keep the car happy :) You will love the EP3!

mine was fine but and it happened out of nowhere and it kept happening. so if u have an autowatch it may happen to u.

ive noticed a few other guys on this forum who had autowatch alarms had this happen to them too so im not the only one. hence why i said majority of us ;P
