Solenoid staying stuck on.

Gunked up oil blocked the galleries so the oil cant return.

My bet too.

Cant be leaking, or low oil if it was then he'd have problems engaging VTEC.
But it seems his having problems disengaging it.

I dont see how this is a problem.

Probably intake pipe loose - slight crack near the throttle body andGives a LOUD vtec like noise. Check your intake pipe is firmly fastened !

when the revs are out of the vtec range, the car dosent run properly.. he has been told its the vtec staying on..

there is oil, everything is all good..

he is thinking of getting a vtec conroller and he is waiting for a skunk2 vtec solonoid he just purhased

try to disconnect the plug to the vtec solenoid - see if this alters the car (drives normally until vtec then goes flat)

Yeah high cam while idling. I can see how awesome that would be for taking off...

I think you may have blown the welds on the intake.

mate, please don't spread misinformation on this forum

he's clearly got too much vtec fluid which is causing the solenoid to stay open

Empty your mind. Be formless, shapeless like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water in a bottle it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend

Cut the crap people and lets get back on topic..consider this a warning

If you unplug the VTEC solenoid, you won't have VTEC, and it will be a good experiment to see how differently the car acts without it engaging at all. Then we can go from there.

My post wasnt a joke...

Yeh one time I went to autobahn for a oil change, and when i got it back they had slipped some Toda cams in there.

But seriously, if u had TODA VTEC killers all this time you would know about it, or at least I hope you would.

My bet is (in order of likely hood)
1. Oil is dirty
2. Nothing is really wrong
3. Faulty solenoid
4. dodgey ECU
5. Aliens controlling the VTEC
6. TODA VTEC killer cams have been installed.

^ maybe that is the problem lol...

Check the map sensor..

oil cant be dirty, its just had a service.. something is really wrong... could be the solenoid, a new one is on its way... could be ecu... and wil check the sensor

dude check if at the service they threw those cams in... never know..
lol jk

yeh get back to us with what happens when u change the solenoid n that

Its either mechanical or electrical.

Try unplugging your vtec solenoid and see if anything changes. If it doesn't, then it meas that the vtec solenoid is mechanically stuff on. In this case you should pull it off and give it a clean. Theres a little filter/screen in there that can collect junk.

If unplugging the solenoid fixes the problem then you may have a dodgey ecu or some wiring somewhere that is causing you issues.

I reckon its a mechanical thing.

Good luck.

mentioned this before - the OP seems to be not taking this serious enough to bother trying options out !

AFAIK it isnt possible to have VTEC "stuck" at any RPM lower than it is designated. A quick google search tells me its likely a vacuum leak (ICAV , throttle body or exhaust) which is giving this noise. Such as a gasket is cracking open....

OP - check it out.

depends what gear your in.

stock dc2r box

1st gear@5000rpm 38kph
2nd gear@5000rpm 58kph
3rd gear@5000rpm 84 kph
4th gear@ 5000rpm 118kph
5th gear@5000rpm 155kph

ahh sweet gives me an idea of what gearbox i have in my car, forsome reason has no stamps :S

mine sounds very simular to that, i must be doing 90 in 3rd gear at 5000rpm when vtec kicks in.

Grady93

alright havent been on here for a while.. so update of progess.. the car isnt mine, so dont blame me for not trying other peoples options... the car is off the road as the peosn who owns the car is doing some mods:

D1 spec lug nuts
front lip
carbon fibre bonet
skunk2 vtec solenoid and gasket
skunk 2 throttle body
skunk 2 intake
skunk 2 coil overs
lightweight fywheel
HD clutch
set of strut bars

once the car is back on the road, ill let use know if the solenoid has fixed it :D
