Hi, every time i fill up full fuel starts leaking underneath of the charcoal canister until theres approx 30L left.

It's a eg4 (twincarby) and when the swap was made the guy had replaced the fuel tank/pump to the dc2. But did not change the hard fuel lines. Does anyone know if that needs to be changed because i've read somewhere eg fuel lines should be same if not similar to dc2's.

If anyone has any ideas whats causing the leak and what i should change let me know :) At the moment i'm only filling up 20L each time and it's kind of annoying :(

pinpoint exactly where the leak is coming from

pretty much leaks from the tube underneath the canister. i've tried replacing the charcoal canister 3 times but it still didn't stop the leak even if i used a hose clamp it'll still leak. :(

I reckon they did not use hard line all the way from fuel tank to the filter. Possible they use A hose to connect hardline to the filter, filter to Injectors fuel rails.
eg 4 has 3 line, 1 feed, 1 return, 1 vacuum which should be connected to the charcoal canister.
Possibly they connect return line to charcoal canister... they miss connect the lines

Yes your correct he used a hose to connect the hard line to the filter. Should this be hard line all the way? :S

Again check the 3 lines( Feed line, return line, evap line) if they are connected to the right place.
Using a high pressure hose with right fittings is alright.( upload a picture)
Note: I am just guessing, you better fill it up and see where is the leak

Cheers hmetro24 ! I'll double check today, get back to you.

With the three lines, the two thicker lines should be the feed and return line and the vacuum/evaporate should be the thinner line?

Can anyone confirm which lines are which?

No one can confirm which line is vaccum or return line, You have to go under the fuel tank(which is under the car and see which line they used for vaccum and which line they used for return. refuel the car with full tank, disconnect the hose that goes to the charcoal canister and see if it's leaking fuel.
I kinda sure they mixed these two lines.

this picture when i have done carbie to Efi
I have used the smallest line for vacuum.
But i can not say which line ( the person who done the job) used for vacuum and return
I can not help more than that, its your job now to check

Cheers for the guide, i guess i have to wait until the weekends to test which lines are which. But i was just curious: even if the guy has mis connected the lines, how am i able to drive up to 200kms (20L) without any leaks? :S

Maybe you are overfilling, more than the fuel tank capacity. you said u filling 30liters, how do u know how much fuel left in the fuel tank?

I know roughly because when i fill up full (until it clicks) then it leaks until it reads half on my gauge. Then when it's reading low i fill up 25-30L (abit over half on the gauge) and it doesn't leak. And the tank is from a dc2 vtiR so im assuming its a 50L tank.

I reckon because the 2 way valve for vacuum is on the middle of the fuel tank, that's why u are not losing fuel.
So again check the vaccum lines and return line. Tell us what will happen

Still leaking fuel. i've checked all three lines and they're all connected properly and used another dc2 vtiR to confirm but still leaks fuel -.-

Have u check the three line in the engine bay or under the fuel tank ?

I'm not sure why no one suggested changing all the fuel lines ?

You do realise that EFi fuel pressure is like 10 times carby pressure ?

Change your fuel lines asap.

Get rid of the charcoal cannister while you're at it :D Haha.. jk... But it does clear up a lot of mess.

thanks tiksie, i'll try source myself some dc2 lines, do you know if dc2 fuel lines fit eg or is it a bit longer?

Are they using high pressure Hoses for fuel feed and return. or just normal hoses

tnguyen

They are using fuel line rubber hoses - has braided/threaded lines within the rubber

Hey guys just replaced and switched the return/vacuum hoses and NO MORE LEAKS so far! Cheers for the help! But only problem now is when i fill up full on my dash the lever only goes to 3/4 of the way and not to the "F" indicator. I believe my float in my tank is playing up, but how do i access it/replace it?

That's mean the return/ vaccum were connected wrong as i said.
you can access the fuel float under the rear seat, you got couple of nuts.
this is the fuel tank,

Good to see you got it sorted mate.

Let us know how you go with the float and how you fixed it.

I have an EG4 and recently discovered that it has a fair amount of fuel leak on the front (Somewhere below the engine). Is it only the Fuel lines (hoses) that has to be replaced and how much?

Have you converted your engine? Also when does it leak and pin point where the leak comes from.
