front speakers for DC5?

Hi all,

I have been searching the forum over the last few days about speakers, and I have seen quite a few mentions of problem fitting aftermarket speakers to the front of the DC5 (while rear speakers seems pretty straight forward).

So, does anyone have success story about trouble free installation for front speakers? if you can share the brand/model of your speakers, it will be much apperciated :D

FYI I have the base (not lux) model pre face-lift DC5.

I had the same problem with my car as well, what I did was cut some 10mm mdf rings out and place them over the holes and they act like spacers, used silicon to secure the rings to the door. Then bolted the speakers to the mdf. Havent had any problems with rattling yet been installed like that for about a year now.

yeah bit of hacking and sawing DIY seems to be common when installing front speakers, hoping to avoid it where ever possible :) I read in some thread that people had better luck using 5 1/4 inch speakers, no mention of brand/model though
