I hate all those tools coz there's always awkward positions where u can put a tool.

Hand tighten and then u should be able to undo
It with ur hand.

If not smash a screwdriver thru it with a hammer and use that

you shouldnt need a tool since oil filters should only be hand tightened, just give it a bit of elbow grease

the second one is the best a nice cap that you can get your wrench to undo.

I use the last one. I think I find it best because I have decent crush strength, but I'm not sure.

wrap sandpaper around the filter and then use the claw (2nd/last pic)

+1 handtight. Always a good laugh when i see people tightening them as tight as they can

Try and tell ryco that their oil filters seal when only "hand tight". Its best to go that bit tighter as this pushes the o-ring in nicely and prevents leaks.

Also just because you hand tightened it when you fitted it doesnt mean it will come off as easily. I have had to many oil filters that I had fitted myself come back in 10,000km and were a struggle to get off even with an oil filter tool and long rachet (due to too many heat cycles and differences in metal compounds between block, oil filter ousing and oil filter)

Otherwise i use pic #3; picked one up from supersheat for a handfull of $$'s.

i use purolator oil filters textured on the outside with minimal fuss. hand tighten, use a torque wrench (10nm should be plenty!!), and im done.
