Alright so to start off I bought a new bumper and did a quick fit of it to see how it looked then gave it a sponge a hose down while it was fitted then chucked the old bar back on, after that I pulled the rocker cover off and replaced the gasket with a coat of three bond. So everything went back together perfectly, everything plugged in and all bolts tightened. I started the car up and it runs perfectly fine for a minute then I reversed out of the garage, turned the corner and bam, car dies and wont start again...I opened up the bonnet to check everything and the #2 distributor lead had popped off the distributor cap which was 100% on there before i started the car up so i chucked that back on and still nothing.
I can hear the fuel pump priming, it beeps letting me know the keys in the ignition meaning it recognizes the key, ive got over 12V but i have earthed a plug and lead out to check for a spark and ive got nothing. I probed the plug under the glovebox to check for codes and it gave me 3 abs codes: 16 which is RR wheel sensor, 54 which is abs fail safe relay and 81 which is ECU, i disconnected the battery for 5 minutes, reconnected and still no start and codes are still there and the ABS stays on when cranking. The only thing I can get out of this is if the moisture from washing the bumper has gotten to the abs failsafe relay and shorted it but then i still cant figure out why that would cause no spark, or the liquid gasket from the rockercover has dripped somewhere it shouldnt have around the cams but i've pulled the distributor out and it all looks sweet.
brains starting to hurt from this one, any ideas anyone?
