Hi All

I've been laying low for a while due to ill health but back to finish some projects.

I last worked on the ED project six months ago. I'd refitted the radiator, bled the air bleed and warmed it up. I then put on the cap. Ten miutes later the top radiator tank blew out in a fairly spectacular manner!

So fitting a new radiator today and after following the w/shop manual proceedure I have some concerns that there is something amiss. The coolant level does not drop (thermostat?) as it warms up and the coolant is steaming at the filler !!!

The fan is not switching in either ....

I'm not game to put the cap on for fear of blowing the new radiator.

Anyone had similar experience or have a theory as to what's happening?

Cheers ... and thanks in anticipation.

Pete

Replace the radiator cap, sounds like it's not releasing the coolant into the overflow as it expands. (coolant expands and contracts with heat change, hence the need of an overflow bottle).
