Hey, my civic is sounding quite unhealthy lately. Even after i got it serviced recently .

My distributer failed a few months back and i had a 2nd hand one put back in and ever since, the idol is really jumpy somtimes. EG, it will be and 1 then drop to 600, then go back up and drop, up drop etc.
Anybody got suggestions on this?

Also the the other thing is, when in gear and driving the engine sounds much louder and unhealthy, and i thought maybe the engine is just really worn, but if i rev in neutral the engine sounds quieter, smooth and fine.
Could this be a problem with the clutch or gear box??

Any opinions or suggestions would be really helpful, as i want to see if i can fix myself, before taking to a mechanic....

it could be a posibility that your timming belt jumped a tooth. ( common if a dizzy seizes or back yarders put the timming belt on wrong ). check your ecu for fault codes.

IF it's the twin carby model, you may want to get the carbies tuned as my one used to run a little rough and since getting carbies tuned, it is quite smooth again.
