I'm planning to change my oil + oil filter at the 80km mark.
I'm thinking 10w-40? but which type/brand?
Is there any DIY tutorials out there on ozhonda? If so, would be great if anyone can link me! Or provide me with some tips (first time DIYer, first car)
ALSO. What petrol do you guys use for your ek1? According to various sites:
http://www.caltex.com.au/ProductsAndServices/Documents/BioFuels/BIO_E10_Car_Compatability.pdf
http://www.fcai.com.au/environment/can-my-vehicle-operate-on-ethanol-blend-petrol-
It cannot take E10?

Use ron91 unless timing is advanced . 98 won't really give you much gain. For filter just get a decent ryco. And oil just get a recommended weight oil from a decent brand. don't over think it

Is it dramatically bad if you use E10? Previous owner used it...

Your fuel lines will degrade over time from the ethanol and as your engine computer isn't tuned for e10 get potentially less power and economy

Does this ONLY occur when E10 is used? Or will the fuel lines degrade no matter what from now on and less power + economy?

E10 isnt worth it at the end. You only save a couple of cents per litre. Just get 91. Its worth it.
And yeah, typically only when E10. More modern cars have fuel systems suitable to E10

That's true. Just wanted some clarification as the previous owner used E10-
But thank you for your time replying back to me. I appreciate it.

No worries. Happy motoring. Depending on km if under 200k go for 10-30 oil and if over 200 go for 15-40

It's actually under 100km. Quite low for the car! Almost hitting 80km soon-
I think I can go as thin as 5-30 but 10-30 should be pretty standard :) hmm

Awesome video! Should be a piece of cake.
Which brand should I be looking at? Or should I go with the one and only Honda FEO?

If you feel the need to go ahead haha. But anything decent should be fine, i.e Penrite, Castrol, etc. Avoid Magnatec.

At one of my local shops, I'm picking up Penrite 10w-50 for under $50 for a 5L bottle. I figure that's thin enough to save my car from the short trips I always end up doing and still being useful when I go someplace stinking hot.... With that wide a range of weightings, I do change every 5000kms, but every time, that oil is a beautiful colour... translucent and gently brown.

Yeah sounds fair. But remember that the more range an oil has , the more additives and shit added to it

False. Additives are not shit.
Additives in oil are a good thing. But they break down over time.
Thats the advantage synthetics have over mineral oils.

Is that why my car runs a little rougher after 7-8k kms since an oil change with synthetic?
Cause the additives break down and it runs worst?

1. Some oils state fully synthetic but are not fully synthetic, they just make the standard and are lazily given the title.
2. What oil are you using?
3. Mineral oils contain no additives as they are extracted from the ground. So the additives are added it, but the bond on a molecular level isnt strong, so over time they separate and disintegrate.
4. Synthetic oils are man made and are engineered to have certain additives as part of their molecular structure. So expect better protection and performance with a synthetic over mineral.
5. I change my oil every 5K Km, and something is awry if synthetic oil is making your car perform worse than a mineral.
Mhmmm mhmm.. last oil i ran was 10-30w oem honda oil..... and the time before that 10-40w royal purple..
currently running 5-30w oem honda now and have done about 2k kms with the oil and still going good.

I used motul Xcess 5-40w. Everything I changed the oil it came out golden/brown.
10-40w is more suited to high powered turbocharged vehicles. Try another full synthetic oil that is 5-30w
Did you use the same oil filter on both occasions?
I used Castrol VMX80 in my gb plus Nulon treatment. It was good for about 8000km when I noticed it was getting harder to shift and slight grinding in 3rd.
Changed to valvoline Duragear Gl4 synthetic. Been a happy camper since.
Ask any reputable tuner. They all go Synthetic.
