View Full Version : Help! Advice on purchasing an Integra with high kms
Hey guys, I'm looking at buying a 2001 DC2R that has clocked about 201,000kms. It seems to be in excellent condition, had a service every 10,000, pretty certain it hasn't been tracked, and is stock. No mods. It's due for a major service at 200,000km.
it seems fine in every aspect but I'm just concerned that it's done so much mileage. Does anyone have advice on whether it's worth/safe to buy it?
Thanks! :)

Comes down to service intervals and generally how well it has been treated. If you say it has been serviced every 10k, ask for books. Even at that mileage, the B18c7 is generally bulletproof IF LOOKED AFTER. Does it blow smoke when your foot is down hard on the pedal? Major service is big, usually timing belt, water pump and all other major components and can come to well over $1k. Use that to bargain down.
I recommend a compression test and leak down test to give you an accurate indication on how healthy the motor is.
If it drives well with smooth power delivery and has no gear box crunches, i say go for it and enjoy :D
ItI've seen the books and it's been done at a honda dealership. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet but I'll be sure to do that. As for the tests, who can I get to do those?
Thanks for your advice! feeling less anxious already! :)

If you don't mind me asking, how much does the seller want for it?
201,000kms for a 11 year old car is pretty average, about 20k kms a year seems to be the average. And this ones about 18k kms a year. I personally do around 12-15k kms per year traveling to uni and back. So don't let the kms scare you, just do the tests and you'll see how healthy the engine is.

Somebody is just trying to offload a car before an expensive major service. Be careful, as you'll be up for a lot of expense immediately.
