G'day from Canberra

Hey all,
I'm Andy from Canberra.
I currently drive an R34 GTT and an MX73 cressida but have recently started a project with my old man which is a 1975 1st gen hatchback Civic, so I though I would join up on here with the hope that some of the people on here are into the earlier models.
I have never owned a honda before but heaps of friends have and just because I am into my nissans and toyotas doesn't mean I don't like hondas :P

welcome! i always loved the first gen civics! there was a customer i had start of this year with a MINT brown 1st gen... had roofracks and towing a tiny trailer....

wouldnt be yours by any chance? canberras a small place lol :P

Hey guys,
Nah it wasn't this one gtstripes.
This one is orange and in need of paint and interior to freshen it up. It has 60'000 km on it but is a little worse for wear at the moment, nothing a bit of elbow grease won't fix.
Mainly just been working on the motor to get it running. We had to get a new metal pipe that runs to the water pump made up by a fitter and turner in the vintage car club as we could not track one down anywhere and the original one was corroded.
I'm dropping in to see the old man today or tomorrow so I'll take some pictures then.
Not looking forward to prepping it for paint :(

I'm on a 7 day working week at the moment so I haven't had a chance to drop by my old mans place to take some pictures of the civic. It looks a bit sorry at the moment but time and money will fix that :P

Only managed to snap a few this afternoon. I was in a bit of a rush to get home and was helping my old man put the top on his stag.
He tucked it down the side of the house so it was hard to get a good shot.

It's a triumph stag though, not a stagea =[
It is mint though...not as tidy as mums MG.
Got the civic for free so it goes without saying it needs some tlc, the interior is really good though.
Once paint gets done then me and the old man can sort all the mechanicals.

We are hoping to get the civic as close to original with with period modifications.
Probably not to the quality of the stag though, the guy before spent a small kingdoms fortune on it.
Once I get rid of a few more cars and help my old man out at his place we will move the civic into the garage and start stripping it for paint and getting any rust problems sorted out if we need to do that but from what we can see any rust is has is just surface.
It might be a different story once it's stripped.

I should probably take some more pictures and start a thread in the build section hey...

Are there many people on here with first gen civics?
I checked out the first gen civic forum and it seems a bit dead.
