Hey guys, i have a whiteline rear swaybar on my dc2 without a subframe brace. My concern is am i in danger of a "subframe tearout" due to running a larger swaybar? Would i need a subframe brace or any other alternatives?

Thanks.

Don't risk it man, I ran a larger away bar for a couple of days then went back to stock, just that gut feeling its gonna tear

Would you know what signs to look for or feel a subframe tear? Just so i can have a look incase? Thanks

you can look for craking..

but it'll be a fatigue thing, so it'll snap suddenly.

If its just the whiteline standard vtir upgrade I think it will be fine

the bottom bar should be fine, but i wouldnt run the whiteline sway bar without a reinforced subframe. if it was a dc2r, different story, theyre much stronger from the factory.

imo, if its fairly larger than the stock rsb save up for an asr or f7 subframe reinforcenent kit.
if its not much bigger than the factory sway bar, run atleast a cheaper alternative like an obx rear sway bar or similar! either way, RUN SOMETHING!

its really not worth the damage it will do man.

You will be fine, I had that kit on my old EG, still no issues after 9 years ( 18mm kit )

Been track a few times too.

Bottom bar is to stiffen the frame and the kit also has brackets to help spread the sway bar pressue evenly.

Do you mean run a cheaper subframe reinforcenent kit if the rsb is not much bigger?

Did your kit have the same bottom bar too? i think the kit i have is bigger than 18mm.. like maybe 22mm..

IMO upgrade to a SFB for peace of mind. They generally hold their value well when you sell 2nd hand and it's much cheaper than having your subframe repaired.
