so the rings in my last motor have gone and i think its time to upgrade... i wat to build a B18c* with stonger parts so i can put my old turbo on it... all signs point to the jdm type r however if in going to upgrade everything in the motor is it nessicary to buy a type r and are the blocks on all b18's the same? thanks guys

i believe a b18c2 is a better turbo platform because of the lower compression and longer gears of its gearbox.

Depends if you want low boost with high compression and no lag.
Or high boost, low compression and lots of lag!

If u running low boost and not touching the internals. Id boost the B18c7 over the B18c2 any day! Not the mention the LSD in the gear box!

i want to replace the internals with stronger parts and run a high amount of boost... are the gearboxes interchangeable because the lsd would help???

Yes they are. Is this going to be a daily drive. As high boost honda arnt a daily drive!

type r box would be good for its diff, lsd is a must for turbo FF machines, but dem short ratios.. haha.

*skreeeee! CHIRP! CHIRP! CHIRP!*

haha imagine the fuel econonmy with a tubro b18c7 going 100 down a highway.

i have vtir b18c with T3/To4 Turbo running standard internal and 8.5psi, gearbox (oem non-LSD) and i put in Mfactory 4.7 final drive and 1.5way LSD and the gear ratio isnt that short like everyone thinks.
my turbo already making full boost at 4.5k rpm and stay 8.5psi all the way til 8.2k rpm.

so with the type R gearbox (close to 4.7 final drive) isnt that bad with the turbo b.

but i think you better off getting the b18c2 and get a good aftermarket LSD and boost.
cheaper that way, because if you run high boost, the oem type R LSD will not hold well, soon or later you need to upgrade your LSD.
and if you are going to rebuilt the engine with forged items, no point getting the type R, the b18c2 has better intake manifold (dual runners) gives you better mid-range, which helps spooling the turbo.

might as well do it right the first time.

its actually not that bad..

We sell both Helical & Plate type LSD's from H.Drive racing, along with different Final Drives if you are interested. Can also supply you with Bisimoto Engineering engine components. PM for further details

Stick with the b18c2 since you'll be rebuilding it. Saves you a nice amount of money for other Go Fast parts.

10:1 to 11:1 is a good compression for a turboed b18 street car.

LSD will do wonders, so a definite tick for LSD. As for gear ratios, it really depends on what you want out of the setup.

Mfactory sell them, if it is daily, i suggest you to get the helical LSD, the 1.5 way clutch LSD i got is so noisy.
sounds like a broken CV when turning at low speed.

ive been looking around and most b18c2 have alot!! of k's on them so it seems to be driving me back to the b18cr because alot of them have much less km on them if anyone knows of anyone with a low km b18c2 can u plz let me know and also the 15kw difference is this something to do with the head being ported better or??? where is the power gain coming from??

If you plan on rebuilding for foced induction, what does it matter how many km are on it. I can guarantee that the engines with "only 8x,xxx" km on them really dont. You have no physical evidence to say it does., only the sellers word.

B18c2 as mentioned is a better base for boost anyway, so why not save money on buying the engine so you can spend it on rebuild goodies

The 20hp difference is because the porting and also balancing of the engine.
In addition, the b18c7 intake manifold gives u more top end power.
However they r not interchangeable due to the bolts patten.

money isnt really to much of a factor... is there any good honda wreckers around brissy (even tho it 1000km away its still the closet major city to where i am)
