you buy a car without a roadworthy certificate.

or any case..

and what happens if it is in neither your name or the registered owners name?

i know it hasnt bothered me previously, as my old roadworthy was not in my name or the old owner name.

but just curious.

buying a registered car the seller has to provide a rwc
trying to register a car that has no rego, you will have to get one your self

Doesnt matter whose name is on the rwc cert., as long as you and buyer agree to tick it off as given on the rego transfer papers thats all that matters.

what you mean by this?

the persons name on the roadworthy may not be the person who will be transferring the rego into their name though?

The name on the blue slip (RWC cert.) could be John Doe.
Buyers name could be Dick Smith (John's Gay Friend)
Sellers name could be Frank Walker

Now Dick and Frank must complete the rego transfer papers.

First question, has Frank supplied a registration cert. - YES
Fourteenth question, is the vehicle exempt from having a blue slip - NO

Both Dick and Frank have signed the papers.
Dick goes to main roads and supplies blue slip with John Doe's name, the transfer papers etc.
And BOOM! now Dick is the new owner of the vehicle.

Have done it many times, its does not matter whose name is on the blue slip, the matter at hand is the vehicle and blue slip number. Thats it!
