hey jdm derek,

since your old engine plant was a 1.6 and your upgrading to a 1.8

you will not need a engineering cert.. all you need is a blueslip with PROOF of the engine number.. provide that to the blueslip people and they can update it to the rta..

regards,
Ryan

Hi Derek,

It is determined on the weight of your car and how much you are increasing the displacement. The below link will be helpful for you.

http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registration/downloads/vsi/vsi_06_-_guidelines_for_light_vehicle_modifications_nov_20 07.pdf

Also it is no longer called an "Engineer's Certificate" but is now called VSCCS (Vehicle Safety Compliance Certification Scheme). There is also a list of people that are able to provide you with the VSCCS if required.

Some Q&A's also available on the RTA's website and a Brochure about it.

Here is a list of certifiers if you require them.

don't you need a receipt of purchase of the engine as well from the previous owner or do you only need the engine number as discussed above ?

sounds too easy ? so engine number , blue slip and done ?
