Hey guys,

I drive a 05 DC5s

So i just noticed on sunday afternoon that there is sound i hear while i drive *that wasn't there before!!*

it a clicky sound like something is hitting up against a belt or something *checked and all seems fine* I don't know :( :(

It only happens while I'm driving and using the accelerator *whether it be half throttle or full* But when i leave it in neutral and i rev the car that sound isn't there.. :( I take great care of my car since its my pride and joy.. so some help would be greatly appreciated.

Thought i'd ask you guys before i take it to a mechanic

If the sound only occurs when the car is driving through its rev range then most likely it will be mechanical.

If the sound doesn't occur when you are coasting at eg. 60kmh and put it in neutral then there's most likely a chance it's not suspension/brake wise.

Things I'd check for are a leaking exhaust system. A leaking or cracked extractors will making a fairly loud ticking noise under a variety of acceleration speeds.

Loud tappets also make a ticking noise through the rev range and sometimes on idle if it's way out of specs.

Engine knock, bad engine bearings, transmission problems could also be the symptom you are describing.

Let us know a more thorough analysis if possible. Eg pictures of things that doesn't look right or video recordings.

Do you know approximately where it's coming from?

Praying its just an exhaust leak! >.<

When im driving i stuck my head out slightly and from what i can hear it sounds like its coming from the drivers side. but then i might just be coming through from the exhaust. Could the resonator be stuffed?

Well i just started the engine. went for a quick drive up and down the road. and i sounds like its coming from the back part of the engine. possibly drivers side but its hard to tell cause im stuck on the drivers side haha :(

I had a similar problem. It turned out to be my driveshaft. It only happens as when I accelerate. But I got that fixed and now it's all good. Just thought this could help.

stndrd - trader now. nice. just nice. I will help you promote yourself.

OP - possible driveshafts if only under acceleration. is it louder with more throttle?
