Hey guys. I know this has been done to death, but hopefully I can get some specific advice.
I bought a '91 EG civic hatch recently, B16A without any significant mods.

Drove it back from Sydney to Melb and got about 380km to a tank.
Filled up back home and only got 300km to a tank, but that was fairly spirited driving.
Been driving like miss daisy all week and will probably see this tank to about 350km.

This seems pretty poor compared to what I've heard others getting.
What do you think?

I've heard that having the engine tuned can increase fuel economy. I'm just curious as to what that actually means? What is the process?
Also, where can I get this done? (I live in south east melbourne)
How much will it cost?

Sorry for all the questions, but any help is appreciated.
Cheers guys.

Also check tyre pressure
And change O2 oxygen sensors

These may help improve fuel economy

Make sure your using the right fuel not 91 unleaded

Thanks!
Was BP ultimate, should have mentioned.

Tyres are running at 34psi. (should double check this, as that's just what the mechanic said after getting road worthy done)

CEL is on and off a bit. I checked the codes, and from memory it was a 41.
"Primary oxygen sensor heater" Not sure if that's relevant??

Thanks again.

Some things to help incase they havent been mentioned
Run the maximum directed PSI according to the SIDEWALL of your tyres (not your manual or what is said online)
Replace the PCV (located on the intake manifold)
Replace the fuel filter
Replace / clean air filter
Replace spark plugs

etc

Code 41 is primary 02 as you stated - it could be either
P0131 Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Primary HO2S) (Sensor 1) Circuit Low Voltage
P0132 Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Primary HO2S) (Sensor 1) Circuit High Voltage

check wiring or replace o2 sensor with new or known working part

Thanks Ben.
Would you believe my tyres don't actually state what psi to inflate to??
Maybe I've just gone blind/retarded...

Just had to pay rego and insurance, so not keen on forking out more dollars. Might do it all next time I service. Got almost 400kms out of last tank, which is an improvment, but mainly highway kms.
Still doesn't compare to some of the numbers I hear though.

Cheers all :)
