Hi guys,

Just wondering how far I can push the k20 on standard internals reliably? on this sort of comp ratio I'd like to see around 12psi...

No one can answer this question without knowing your turbo's specs. Its also more of how much hp or kw to run, rather than PSI.

For example 15 pound of boost on a gt30 is different from 15 pound on a gt40, it is also reliant on how good your tune is.

Its my unprofessional opinion that 12psi will be fine if properly tuned

It all comes down to your supporting mods (fuel system & tune mainly) and if you are preared to shorten the life of the engine. As mentioned, turbo sizing and specs play a big key but 12psi on a 9.6:1 engine is theoretically ok. I would not push much further and quality of internals will most likely be up to scratch

Really depends how you drive the thing as well. Constant prolonged load/boost will kill just about any engine. Good thermal aids are a plus, decent sized oil cooler. Lower temp thermo and fan switch.

put it on 25 psi and tell us how u go.

Well thats the thing. Theres no 'ideal psi' as people ask. As stated by others above, theres heaps of variables. It'll last on 25psi for 10 seconds, 20psi for 30 seconds, 15psi for a minute, 10psi... etc etc.

You can run high boost and change things like the ignition timing aswell.

I know of a guy who was running a stock D series on 30psi and it was running fine.

So I would recommend putting some research into what sort of power your after and create a similar set up someone else has.

thats amazing man. would love to see that! just goes to show what a decent tune can do for you!!

Aside from having an ideal tune and fueling there comes a point when physical stress is factor

At what stress/power level do the stock conrods say bye bye

and this is my key question, and yes I understand all the variables

lets say standard everything bar 600cc injectors, uprated fuel pump, gt28rs turbo on a healthy k20...

Go to Honda Tuning.

They'd probably give you a better answer.

Plus people probably have done similar stuff.
