hey guys ive got headers and a hi flow cat, 2.25" single system with a resonator and a straight through sports muffler ( fiber filler perferatored mesh) on for a while now and between 3500rpm and 4500rpm it sounds raspy and fluttery. i drove it for a while and its now anoying me.

so i went back and the exhuast shop and they swapped it over to a glass filled muffler and a different brand, but its made it even worste.

does exhuast raspyness/ rice sound come from the resonators or the muffler?

any info would be helpfull so i can pass it on to my exahust shop so we can sort it out.

You need a mid muffler to reduce the raspyness. A resonator on its own is not enough. Have a look at the Fujitsubo exhaust design for CL9. The mid muffler is there for that reason. Others exhausts without it like Skunk2 and J's Racing end up being raspy.

Interesting, I just purchased a CL9, il consider this when purchasing an exhaust.

exactly right. once i tested this and put two resonators in which only made the sound quieter but at higher rpms was still raspy.

i then removed the first resonator and put in a mid muffler and it sounded perfect.

the only other way is to add a turbo ;)

Either of these styles will reduce raspyness buzzyness while still flowing

Thanks a lot for the reply. Might look at the mid muffler option. N if it fails I'll have to go one of those magnaflow mufflers

I've been told to try a Lukey muffler? Any experiance with one of them?
