dont know if you can see, the turbo is right under the bolt.

not enough space around the bolts to fit a 17" spanner in either

Have u tried a offset spanner?

http://www.samstagsales.com/Gedore/gd2set7.jpg

If all else fails, just Take off the manifold with the turbo, its prbz best way to do it....if not its the only way to do it, considering the very limited space u have, will save ur alot of hassle as well, an atleast than u can tighten up the bolt easier an tighter

for those who keep saying "get extension and reach from bottom, once again, there is a turbo under the bolts.

can i recommend you get a ratcheting one? i believe gearwrench makes a decent one. those non ratcheting ones whilst you can apply more torque, you end up having to remove and reinsert onto the bolt. if you dont mind waiting, you can check out ebay usa. i saw a set of 12 snap on (usa made) that went for <$100. now thats a bargain.

DAMN!
just bought the one with not ratcheting one.
its useless because u can only turn 1/8 at a time, and the crows foot can not fit due to space.

and the fact that i have to insert the foot over the bolt makes it even harder.

it is a major PITA trying to fit the crows foot on the nut over and over again, even worse if it aint ratcheting.

where did you end up getting yours?

You could of had this finished and back together if you just took off the manifold instead of buying and demolishing tools that will get used once, still take you forever to get the job done and thrn be forgotten about.

Think about how much space you will have to get at the stud you are trying to replace if you have the manifold/turbo sitting on a bench

connorling

thats what i am going to do next, take it all apart again,
just finish the season so now have some more time to take it all apart

this bolt seems to be loosening regularly, so he's trying to develop a tool that can be used in future if it loosens again

i did put that on last time i semi-pull out the turbo.
but i believe the heat is too much for Loctite 247 and come loose again on the track.

on honda-tech suggest to use the high temp silicon gasket to give the bolt more stickier.
i want to explore all the possibility before pulling the turbo out completely.

yeh mate, silicone is good shiz, my dad uses it on his exhaust bolts, it absorbs vibration, and helps grip onto the surfaces. also can wipe it off.
