View Full Version : Vinyl Wrapping dented bonnet

hey guys,

contemplating whether to get a new bonnet or just carbon wrap it.
im abit iffy that if i wrap it that the lil dents will show up?

can anyone elaborate this if this is true?

it will show up

you need to fill in the holes with body filler and probably seal it with a primer before wrapping

hrmmmm... too much hassle by the sounds of it. might just get a bra to hide it.

Yeah all the dents will be just as visible sadly

Why dont you look into ways popping the dents out then wrap it? Theres a few DIYs on here

+1 on popping the dents back out, if the dents are small you can easily pop them back out using a mallet or something, hit it back out lightly then if there is only a little bit left, just leave it and putty on top and smoothen it out followed by sanding. Nobodys gonna see the inside for a few years if you plan on keeping the carbon wrap. Heard they last up to like 4 years? Gives you time to save up and paint it or get a new one :)

It does work but not always. OP you can give compressed air a go and after you spray it for about 10seconds it should pop back out, if not then a mallet is the way to go. Have a look on youtube how they pop out dents using compressed air and dry ice.

If not, lightly apply heat from a heat gun to soften the metal a slightly then apply pressure on the affected areas? .. not on the side that's painted though :-p.

The dry ice method is a myth, or if it does work its a 1 in 100 chance. Tried it myself with no success.

thats my bonnet there. its like not MAJOR but is noticeable.. dunno what to doo.

pretty sure most of them you can pop out, IMO your best to try pop them out you have nothing to lose
