Hey guys my mate just bought a da9 Integra and we took the wheels off and it looked like the springs were chopped. Is this dangerous for normal driving? Or does he need to replace this urgently?

Really depends on how low the car is on the shockers.... If its too low you wont have any travel in the shocker and thus will be quite dangerous. The term bump steer at the front end which is not safe at any time.

I would get this replaced urgently.

Your car will not explode but because the springs are chopped the shock will wear out really fast and blow. May cause big damage if just gives way and your chassis hits the ground.

Cornering will be ASTOUNDINGLY SHIT.
Could die from that on a rainy day.

Might as well get some coils or aftermarket springs.

What does it feel like going in a pot hole?

since we found out about the chopped springs, he hasnt drove the car yet cause hes just too scared to drive it. which is the best options for him atm? coilovers or new springs? i dont think he has any intention on tracking the car.

depends on budget. springs are obviously cheaper then coils

lets say it was somewhere <$600? does he need to replace the shocks as well if he bought new springs? or can he just take the springs out and put the new shocks on? apologies in advanced for this noob question.

Change the springs to something good and if the shocks are buggered replace them later, especially if he gets lowered springs

Depending on how much of the spring was cut off, it has the potential to come off....

At the very least, until you fix it be very careful when you take a corner :P

meh, depending on how they're cut it could be fine. the real issue is that it voids your insurance. :(
