Hi, this is my first forum, I recently bought a ek1 1998 model with 130k mileage. Its stock and pretty clean. Unfortunately its got 2 small dents on the hood as well as some minor specks of rust that isnt visible but bothers me. I was considering whether I should replace the whole hood, or just wrap it up in carbon fibre vinyl, but I dont want my car to look rice, so opinions please ?23307233062330523304

Why dont you get some quote for those mobile dent removal?

Check some price before you go ahead with the vinyl

take advice, but don't depend 100% on it.

What some view as rice what might set you apart from rest of the crowd in a good way.

IMO carbon wrapping little bits and pieces isn't that offensive in comparison to bodykits and neons. I'd probably leave the mirrors.

yeah thats true. its up to u in the end. but like everyone else said, some people might think it is and some may like it. IMO i dont think it is. them carzy body kits and flame vinyls etc are rice. lol. i had a white eg sedan and had paint problems with it so i decided to wrap it. it looked better than what i expected. keep this in mind, depending how visible the dent is, when u do decide to wrap it, it will still show. not as bad, but you will probably notice it.

if you got it wrapped in carbon fibre wrap, it would look rice to most (or cheap). but if you got it wrapped in matte black wrap, people would either think nothing or think it looks jdm

Try suction cups to try and "pull" the dent back out or a heat gun to warm the metal to soften it slightly so its a little flexible so you can smooth the dents out.

Some other guy asked before about the vinyl wrapping dents before, if you wrap the bonnet without popping the dent, it will still be visible so yeah, best to pop it back out and then if you really want to wrap it then go ahead, if your from Melb, some company in clayton does vinyl wrapping. But yeah imo i'd just try to pop it back out with either suction cup or if you can use a rubber mallet and hit it from the inside, if you can though. But yeah goodluck with that and welcome to ozhonda :)

seems that way that people buy new panels or cars

But people these days have got to much money to spend but then make a fuss over having no money at the end of the day face palm

Thanks for all the replies, but all I am really asking is whether vinyls are rice.as to whether I have money to spend or how I spend our isn't really my concern here.I would also appreciate if I can get some ideas on how to wrap my car if I do get vinyls thanks.

@gu357 I normally see cars looking dented or with panels that are a different colour.if dents were fixed, then I would not have been able to tell whether there was a dent or not in the first place so I never considered it possible to remove dents

Okay, yes, I think it's rice. I think exposed genuine carbon fibre is rice, let alone vinyl wrap. If you go to re-sell it in a few years and remove the vinyl, there may be noticeable paint fade variation, although this may not be as big of an issue with your colour paint.

fair enough man. everyone has something they didnt know.
but.... LOL im sorry i never expected that.
but why would u of thought it isnt possible? its just metal its been bent to shape before.

either way vinyls are rice. (or atleast the CF one is) if u have no other choice then ok.
but its obvious to everyone its not CF.
since carbon fibre is a race inspired product and CF wrap is made to look like carbon fibre without any of the benefits that makes this product a Race, Inspired, Cosmetic, Enhancement - RICE!

I'd say it's rice.
It's like how I want to stickerbomb one of my guards (well, get a newish guard, and do it to that, so I have a backup/ a normal one) It's probably ricey and shit to others, but meh.

As for whether it'd cover dents, I get the feeling it'd show off the dents more... I don't know why, but the more matte look of it makes me think it'll show much more

i still think its gonna be your decision at the end of the day. were only here to give oour opinions and obviously different people have different views about things. the clear coat on my dc2 is starting to bubble aand peel off. while saving up for money to get a whole respray done to it, im actually thinking about wrapping it. at least it will cover that up and prevent it from getting worse as it really annoys me.
