My deck plays music fine, the problem is that the display and buttons don't light up anymore... My dad was telling me that there's a lightbulb in there n i gotta replace that. Openned up the face plate n theres no bulb.... lol its been a while since my dad has done car audio.....

Any1 got any idea what it could be?
I thought it's probably a busted display, but if its just the display then why aren't the buttons lighting up either?

btw the HU is a kenwood krc-888
its fairly old but it does the job pretty well

sounds like a transistor is down OR as your dads says the pilot light and globes OR LED's are out, but an LED going bung from nothing now thats a bit strange.

best bet kenwood in north ryde, give them a buz...

cheers mate

got my dads friend to check it out (he owns a car audio shop) n he was it was a wire or something along those lines. Thinking it was the just the face plate that was dead thats all i showed him then he told me that the problem isnt the actually faceplate but rather the mounting for the faceplate. Since its one of them decks where the faceplate can fold 180degree n its pretty old he said it was probably coz of wear n tear

kenwood is made by the same people as jvc so it my have the same problem as my as my new jvc mp3 player where the crystal conectors may have gone i think it may be a common fault with jvc not sure about kenwood witch is suposedly jvcs affordable range but if its any like my jvc witch was fixed under waranty after only six months an when it happend again a month out of waranty they didnt want to know me so good luck i sent a $800 stereo back to em so they can shove it
