Hey guys I bought this Harness off Benny from BYP told me it was an EK4 harness so I could plug and play for b18c.

Just now I started stripping the old wiring off and put the new ek4 harness . And Ive come across two issues.

1. The wiring I have doesn't fit into my B18c injectors. photos below

AND MY HARNESS PLUG

2. Also the Alternator plug is different

return the harness,
hardwire the injector plugs into harness
or change injectors

this is not a ek4 harness?

that's not an EK4 harness

those injector plugs are OBD1

How much did you pay for that harness?

JDM-derek

FML are you sers ???

I paid 350 for it

OBD1 Injector plugs - vs - OBD2 Injectors

P.S. I have seen OBD1 injector plugs on a 96 spec EK1 harness, I actually have it here

Can you show me a pic of your distributor plug on the "EK4 harness"

Has it been changed?

doesn't look like a ek4 harness to me

dorikin
18-11-2012, 01:13 PM
No it doesn't. My guess is it's an early EK1 harness that's been modified..

That oval Alternator plug is consistent with the 2 EK1 harness I have here (but my AUDM DC2R alternator uses that oval plug too)

ask for a refund because it was the wrong product supplied. if not just modify it, doesn't take long.

I could be wrong though....

My 96 spec EK1 harness uses OBD1 injector plugs so it's possible EK4 uses it too since EK4 started in 95

The distributor plug pictured is the correct one. That square Alternator plug is usually found in OBD2b

Are the ECU plugs OBD2a (plug straight into your DC2R ECU)? and does the loom look modified to you in any way, extra wiring for Knock sensor, VTEC solenoid?

Get someone to post pics of their EK4 engine bay to confirm - Injector plugs, Alternator

yes straught fit into my jdm ecu, yeah looks like the vtec wire is maybe wired up .

By the way , just notice the O2 sensor is different plug too.

strip some of the plastic tubing back and see if its been cut and soldered

ECU plugs, distributor plug, knock sensor, vtec slenoid, o2 sensor

if it's a product from BYP , return it and ask for a refund or take them to fair trading .

surely something can be worked out rather then going fair trading.

but doesn't look oem to me

Was going to say, the ECU plug wiring looks heavily modified. Don't try your luck with that loom. I wouldn't want something that's been as chopped up as that looks like it has. Take it back and if you cant get an EK4 loom, buy an EJ8 one and modify it.

yah looks terrible after unwrapping the tape. worth prob 50bucks and added few wires.

so get EJ8 harness? cant I use my DC2r harness maybe =/

FAITHLESS

Nah can't use your DC harness. Your only options are EK4 or EJ8. EK4 being the only one that won't require you to modify the loom.
EJ8 harness needs to have knock sensor, secondary O2 sensor and VTPS wired in.

ive seen EK4 harness on US ebay, should that be okay?

FAITHLESS
18-11-2012, 04:41 PM
Yeah a D to B series swap into an EK1 is often harder than expected. Especially for your first swap. Just be patient and don't put a time frame on your build. You'll just get frustrated otherwise.
As far as I know, the US harnesses are the same but you'll need someone else to verify that.

if you require a ej8 wiring loom made up to suit pm me all legit, no bodgy shit

It wouldn't take much more effort to make that "EK4 loom" you bought work

but yeah i'd be pissed if I paid $350 for that

that's the nature of many people in the used automotive parts industry.
there's a whole lot of shit out there being passed off as something it's not. keep that in mind and never trust anyone in this industry!

I just figured out why you have that 4-pin Alternator plug

The 4th wire is for Electrical Load Detector (ELD), and only JDM models have them...

Explains why all my AUDM harnesses are 3 pin

So if a get a legit ek4 harness it still won't fit into the JDM alternator . Guess ill need a audm alternator .

I've return the harness today , awaiting BYP money transfer .

So who's got an EK4 harness ? Lol

dorikin
19-11-2012, 05:01 PM
My guess is the ek4 harness will have 3p plug

And if u swap to AUDM alternator, your JDM ECU will throw a CEL code for ELD

na-118
19-11-2012, 05:14 PM
you can always rewire the alternator plug, i think you'll get away with two wire, sense and load

It's all the more satisfying when you get it done though.
And yes the alternator only needs sense and load, just splice the DC2R alternator plug to your loom with the aforementioned 2 wires.
