So after 120k my brake rotors are warped pretty badly and have <3mm on my pads, you feel like your sitting on a massage chair when slowing down from 80km/ph+... Anyway I’ve had the car checked about a week ago and they have pretty much said that I’ve got maybe 5000kms left in those unless i drive really carefully.

I'd say my driving style is aggressive so I’ve decided not to replace my rotors with OEM style rotors, but getting drilled or slotted ons instead. Hopefully they wont wrap anytime soon and provide better brakeing performance...

I've been researching a few things about rotors/pads recently and got a few questions...

Has anyone here upgraded their rotors/pads, if so what did you change them to?
Acura TSX 04 - 06 parts should fit on my 04 Euro? or are they different parts.

Does it matter that the TSX is LHD and the euro is RHD (in terms of rotors/pads)?
Any recommendations?

JaxQuickFit quoted me $700 for changing my front 2 rotors to slotted and drilled rotors, but if i can get them for myself i think i can save a bit...

Firstly its brakes, not breaks.

Secondly, how is your driving style aggressive? Do you hit the twisty roads a fair bit? Or do you just like putting the boot in when taking off from a set of lights, then have to slow down quickly when youre over the speed limit?

If its the first, then yeah, go for a set of slotted rotors. Dont go drilled, the holes create weak spots that will cause cracking. DBA or RDA will be fine, matched up with a set of decent pads, EBC redstuff, or QFM HPX.

If its the second, dont bother, just get standard replacements, and learn to settle down when driving.

As for LHD vs RHD, no there isnt a difference.

Fixed my spelling :)

Definitely the first kind, i know the cl9 isn't meant to be a performance car but i do like following my mates MR2 around lol.

Anyway i was thinking of getting these (with rear pads as well): http://www.heeltoeauto.com/ht-spec-brake-package-stage-1-street-enhanced-04-10-acura-tsx-cl7-cl9-cu2.html
They are a bit more expensive than what i can get locally but i expect them to be much better and last a lot longer.

Can anyone see any problems with getting those?

Tsx 2004 to 2006 will fit. As long as it is the CL9 model, which is up to 2008 (I think), it will fit.

I've used hawk ceramics which were similar to oem after bedding in. They were good on the rotors. Now I am using project mu NR which is much better but the dust is black in color and significantly more in quantity. For rotors, I went for DBA 4000 blanks.

Note that if the group buy organised on that FB page goes pear-shaped, OzHonda can not and will not do anything to help track the person or get your money back.

MR_LATE

so if ozhonda does a group buy you guys can track it and sort it out?

Ozhonda doesn't allow group buys

thats what i thought. its not like cqence is connected to ozhonda for them to track it or anything. or the person who promotes it

well Lets hate a bit more on a group buy.

I'm the one organising, if you dont want to get in on it, then dont.

The group buy is not connected to ozhonda in any way/shape or form. so take that as you will.

In future I would rather not promote group buys that are organised within AusEuro on forums! :D

An alternative to the Project Mu NS/NR in Endless, try the NS97 [All Round], SSY [More Bite], SSM [Less Bite].

Part# Link (http://www.endless-sport.co.jp/brake_pad/PDF/BrakePad/pad_matching_PDF/honda_PDF/HONDA_Accord.pdf):
F - EP368
R - EP312

I had to make a trip up to Brisbane, about 2500ks and 2 14 hour driving days, the car did fine but the squeaks are so loud now >.<

Just looking at Cquence, what is the difference between these to rotors?:

2004 Acura TSX - Cquence Blade Brake Disc Rotor [Front]
http://www.cquence.net/cquence-sport-blade-brake-disc-rotor-front-acura-tsx-2004-html.html

2004 Acura TSX - Performance Series - Absolute Dimpled and Slotted Brake Disc Rotor [Front]
http://www.cquence.net/cquence-performance-absolute-brake-disc-rotor-front-acura-tsx-2004-html.html

I can see one is a sports series and the other is performance, but what I’m interested in is why the middle part looks different; On the Performance Series, the middle part seems to stick out much more than the sports series why is that?

Will these fit with my standard calipers?

Are those what I should be looking at for a CL9 (I’ll double check with Jax-Quickfit aswell)

Also it looks like they have a sale on so it’d be good to get them soon.

Fredoops
20-12-2012, 12:49 PM
^^^ they are stock pictures so it could be for a different model.

As to choosing between the 2, I'd personally think the dimpled is enough, there's no need for cross drilled.

Just curios are there any downsides of getting the cross drilled one? I wouldn’t mind paying an extra bit for looks… Wouldn’t it last longer as well?

Lazarus

Cross drilled are more susceptible to cracking between drill holes and are known to warp faster

I am looking to replace my front rotors on the CL9. Is the diameter 288mm or 300mm? Because both are coming up...

thezaza101

I believe the front rotors are 300mm, but can I get someone else to also confirm this…

Do you find the remsa pads are super dusty? I got them put on my CL9 and my front wheels are half black after a week or two of normal driving :|

TheSaint
09-01-2013, 04:22 PM
nope - almost no dust - less than the OEM spec ones that were on before
what rotors are you using? - and did you use a good amount of brake cleaning fluid when you installed them?

i have PMU (project MJU) type-NS pads and DBA normal slot rotors on my civic - and i find that the remsa/T3 slot combination is waaaay better
the PMU/normal slot combo isnt too bad but you have to get them red hot for them to even be remotely useful lol

i put HEL brake lines on the civic with the intention to put them on all of my cars
i will never buy HEL again - the fitment was disgustingly poor - i had to modify them alot to make them fit
the male/female fittings were terrible and i had to use thread tape to stop them from leaking - not happy

ill try goodridge or PMU lines instead next time i think

Raising a old thread, but it will be useful for people in the future..

Anyone know what the QFM HPX part number is for a preface lift 2004 cl9 is?

Also the brake pad measurements may be useful.

Ah if no one can answer that right away, I do have a set of those exact pads ready to go in at home (will be like 4pm when i can find out but!) hopefully someone has them faster to help out but!

thezaza101

That would be good!
Tho i just got off the phone from QFM appreantly they dont make the HPX off the shelf for my car, and i'd have to get them custom made.. But i'm sure the same size pads exist for there cars and they will fit perfectly onto the euro.
