It will if your spare key doesn't hold the immobiliser... If it does, it won't start the because it won't be sending a signal to the receiver on the ignition....
Seeing that you used the chip from the spare key, that chip might hold the immobiliser :)

The Key I took the chip out of still works.. inserted it into the ignition and it works... :)
So does that mean a generic key would?

With my family's lancer.. we needed to get mitsubishi to cut the key, because when my sister got a copy from a local keycutter, the key would open the doors, but wouldn't start the engine..

Whomever cut your key should have been able to put the chip into the key you want to use, i think there is a master key for this or some crap like that. Its like a ford courier, you can open any courier door with any courier key, and even crank the motor over, but it wont fire. LOL Now lets not all go out stealing things out of ppls ford couriers

if you put the transponder in the reciver ( ignition ) then any cut key from anywhere will start the car. its that transponder that makes the key special.

OEM should work..
I'm guessing Honda will need your car, to program it, etc..
Unless all transponders are universal for every prelude..
But OEM should be your best bet..

is this what your referring to?
with remote start u can go and get another key cut, as the chip taken from one of your key's disables the factory immobilisor. your alarm is the immobilisor now so u dun use the honda factory immobilisor so just go pick urself a key and that should be it. have u tried cutting another key yet?
