They look great, a little lower on power and a lot heavier than I would have hoped.

I would prefer to stick my old RR though.

But in saying that, it seems most people buying bikes are doing so to be seen on it rather than riding it, so expect sales to soar like the Ninja300.

Yeah I do agree, I just want my first bike to be something a little bigger than a 250

These are only coming out to compete and go ahead because of the release of the ninja 300

I'm sure Kawasaki will be thinking of something to release to match honda now lol

I imagine you want something bigger because you're a bit bigger yourself.
Check out http://cycle-ergo.com/ and go and sit on a few before you make any purchases.

Hey GUYS ! I actually test rode one a couple of weeks ago, it was a red 2013 Honda CBR500R with ABS. Honestly It's specs don't tell you much, you actually have to take it for a ride. They're great fun and pull really hard, guess that's expected for a 471cc engine.
In my opinion:
Pro's: 471cc for the torque over anything around the 250cc range.
- Higher seating position for easier lean, bike actually feel's lighter than it says, the seating position is pretty comfortable.
- EFi !!!! response is straight away ! no lag and no high RPM's needed for the UMPH! Also decent fuel economy!
- ALARM! yes the bike comes with an alarm system!
- Digital dash: Speedo and tacho !
- ABS brakes (optional only on the CBR500R)
- Appearance: the fairings of the CBR500R really give it that super-sport appeal and the CB500F looks exciting for a Naked type bike.
CONS:
- Only produces 46.9 hp :(
- If you're shorter than the average male you struggle a little to sit both feet comfortably on the ground.
- Twin cylinder: Could have been more fun with a louder high revving engine like the older CBR250R(and RR) MC19-MC22 which were 4 cylinders...
- For a '2013' model motorcycle it doesn't display what gear you're actually in (which is terrible as you can buy a 2012 CB125E that displays them :S )
- ABS only optional for the CBR500R
- The CBR500R and CB500F are basically the exact same bike except different fairings...
- weight of CBR500R: 192kg (194 ABS) is a bit much considering it's only 471cc and not like a CBR1000RR which is about 200kg's.
- $7000 price tag ! (considering you can buy a 2010-12 Hyosung GT650R which is 650cc and produces 80hp and come EFi for about 5000!)

I honestly can say that it's true when Honda say's: "it's for those who have finished learning and wish to take the next step up!" All in all I would actually own one only if it was a couple of years old so its price drops ! :)

These are the other colours the CBR500R can come with. Love the RED

I ride a new cbr1000rr and I still have fun riding my fiancé's new cbr250r
All leaner bikes arent going to sound or perform like a super sports but as it looks nice and your comfortable riding it, your on to a winner.
But comparing hyosung to any Japanese bike in terms of build quality is apples to oranges, you get what you pay for

yeah CBR250R's are fun, one of ex's had a VTR and then got the CBR250, both were great corner carvers due to low weight.

If I was lookin at a Legal learner I'd consider the new KTM 390, should be out Aug/sept !! Im thinkin of ditchin my 2 stroke scooter for one of these.

$6,995 + onroads, 139kgs, 44bhp, WP suspension, Bosch ABS, The bike is the same as the 125 and 200cc already produced
