View Full Version : Suspension & Brake Issue (DC5)
I had my car serviced not long ago, front brake on the drivers side was 'clunking' when I applied pressure to the brakes or going through a drive through for example. Told me my engine mounts and front suspension were shot (confirmed by 3 separate shops). My local mechanic does a lot of performance/street cars and said that it drove perfectly after he installed the Eibach springs & Koni shocks but I still notice a slight clunking when applying the brakes and a squeaking from the rear when going over bumps.
Anyone able to shed some light on what else it could be? He inspected the brake area and said he couldn't find any issues besides the suspension but he also test drove it on a very smooth road so may not have noticed it as much.

tie rod end stuffed?
How would I pinpoint that? Trying to see if I can zone in on the problem myself but may just need to take it back and say its still doing 'this n that' but just annoys me that everything seemed okay when he inspected it. When I had it serviced they'd told me it'd go away once the suspension/engine mounts were replaced also.

it connects to the arm on your front suspension strut

when you lower a dc5 they wear faster and fail
see it on the end of the strut arm,

you need to see if its tight or worn and loose/wobbly

it might not be that but its one thing that fails on dc5 so yeah worth checking
also the rear engine mount always breaks so I would visually inspect it myself, not take others word
Thanks for the reply, I'll bring it up when I take it in so they can have a more thorough look - hopefully just needs some oiling or something, I always thought the clunking was the suspension worn and leaking and the rear squeaking was either wearing shocks or something to be oiled. Will update when I can incase someone else has the similar issue :D
