howcome the 40000Km's service costs so much? Is it only because they have to check and adjust the valves and replace the air filter? Anyone know the details?

Yeah, its alot more expensive to get pads changed at the dealer but I was in a hurry at the time. Also, the 80000 service is even bigger than the 40000 (more stuff is replaced... eg. the auto transmission oil )

Isn't the 20,000km service pretty much just an oil change?

Or is that the 30,000 that I'm thinking of?

They probably don't do anything different anyway..seriously I have changed pretty much everything they "inspect" and I don't need to pay someone to tell me if my fluid bottles needed filling up, or if head lights are working or whatever....

My 10,000km was $264.90
My 20,000km was $300.00 (they took $50 off because i asked them not to rotate my wheels and do a few other things)

It's a rip-off. I have only done 12,000km now and am coming up for my service again (30,000km - I get it done every 6 months instead).

Now I just bought 15litres of Elf synthetic for $160 delivered, plus a filter for $17 and I'm set for the next 3 services!

Even the 40,000km service they only replace the oil, oil filter and air filter....they inspect all this crap that they say takes hours...it's rubbish!

You may have a point, but given that

(a) doing it yourself can void the warranty, and then
(b) if you have to take it somewhere, it may as well be to a dealer who does a good job,

I take mine to Collins Honda @ rockdale they aren't the cheapest or most expensive, but they seem to do a thorough job... I believe they do check alot of things as they've come back to me in the past and mentioned small things like missing screws/buttons etc.

I've noticed that some areas of Sydney seem to have somewhat inflated prices compared to others so it might be worth going out of your way to save $100...

For example. my mate just rang around for a 20,000 service. He normally went to Rose Bay and they quoted $370. Scotts at Artarmon was ~$300. Collins is ~$260. I reckon the dealers in Sydney's somewhat more prestigous eastern/northern suburbs are inflating the price a bit...

I always rely on my trusted friend mechanic for my Jazz service, all my service is done by him since new! So When I was about to get my 40K km service in May 2004, I was curious about Honda dealer prices so I got a quote from Scots Artarmon and they said $640!
a
The costs for 40K service include replace 1) fuel filter; $130 just for the part 2) spark plugs; $40each because its platinum plugs 3) HOnda Oil & filter; $50 4) Air Filter; $80 I think 5) check everything else.

Anyway, I took my car to my mechanic he looked at the maintenance schedule and said 1) don't get spark plugs bcos they are platinum and were designed to last 100K km. He just told me replace spark plugs later, like next 50K or 60K service. So i listened to him and replaced at 50K km :) When he took the plugs out, he showed me and said "still almost new" so I think he kept it and cleaned it for his own Jazz haha.

He also own a Jazz but 3 weeks after delivery, his wife turning right at T-intersection didnt see approaching car, and the car hit the Jazz on side causing it to flip on its roof, car was write-off. Insurance paid a new car but had to wait for delivery - 3months! hehe

Anyway, got my AT fluid changed recently, cost me $90 including Honda fluid.

BUT my mechanic refused to change my brake fluid? because he said he changed a Accord Euro recently and the brakes just locked up?anyone can suggest how this happened?

Try DIY..You may learn more about your car.

kuso
07-06-2005, 06:26 PM
diy voids warranty though... if you don't have alot of money to play around with... you'd kinda want to keep at least some of the warranty - at least on major engine components. Servicing it yourself will void it completely ?

But yea I think someone already mentioned that oh well.

I wouldn't mind learning more about the car

My Jazz will be needing its 80,000km service in the next few weeks, so can anyone recommend me the best SYdney Honda dealer?

I want a dealer who does all the work specified in the book and not just say they will do it and don't bother checking eg. not checking the valve clearance as its a ballbreaker just to have a look at it.

Just got my car booked in for the 10,000km service with Courtney & Patterson Honda. I spoke to Mario and he is happy for me to use my own oil. Price is also reasonable.. only thing is like what Jimmy said.. full booked out on Saturday... I have to do it weekdays...damn!!! Jimmy.. better recommended to your boss to have all Saturdays covered to generate more revenue..

I rang GWS and spoke to the service department and advice them I will be bring my own Fully Synthetic oil.. they said they dun recommended that and will not service my car.. I said.. WTF ??? (nearly said that on the phone..dls) OK.. I am sorry guys but GWS is off my list.. first the parts department give me the sh*t.. and now the service department...

Courtney & Patterson Honda, you better not disappoint me!!!!

ahcash,

How many km has your Jazz done? Is it too early to change to synthetic oil? Which oil will you be putting in? Also, let me know your feedback after the service is done. Going for my 10000km service in 2mths time.

Thanks.

Aaron

I've already changed to full synthetic oil at 5000km. I am using shell Helix Ultra 5W-40. Some of the guys here use, Motul, Mobile1, CastrolR, Honda FEO.. etc. Depending on your preference.

Unfortunately, I will not be going to Courtney & Patterson Honda next week.. I've got day off tomorrow and was thinking of servicing the car but they couldn't slot me in.. so I am going to another dealer tomorrow instead...

MRFIT et al should be able to give you some feedback on this.

I've used Shell last service, it lasted well...... I change oil and filter every 5000km...... at the moment, I am using Motul.... I want to try different brand at least once, to see if the car feels different or not.... also compare the colour of the oil after 5000......

Hi all,

I'm now booked in for 10k service next month on Saturday. Spoken to Tim today and he is very helpful in answering all my questions. Price is very reasonable $189 for Jazz and even the Euro. I thought the Euro will be slight more expensive.

Once my car is serviced, I will report a review :D

Cheersss..

courtney and patterson is great.... the workshop is fantastic.....

Motul makes the car more smooth..... especially at high revs..... shell is pretty good..... the oil looked very healthy after 5000km...... :)

paul at courtney and patterson is so sh**..

I bought my car there.. service my 1k and 10k there.

Paul quote me $220 + $300 for my 20k service and CVT flush
Abbetford quote me $205 + $250 for my 20k service and CVT flush

I trying telling paul and staright out he say no lowering price and no way he can do it.. than another lady call me and ask me why i cancel and i told them the reason. she kindly offer to lower the price for me but i had enough from him.

At my 1k service i wanted to put my xcarlink. paul say $150 can be done with my service if i leave my car there at 1 and pick up at 4 (Service only pick up is 1.30pm). At 4.. what he say?? insufficient time~ ask me to rebook. Great thanks

Shop around and dont get rip.
