Thanks mate :)

I used high temp caliper paint and once in a while need to respray it due to stone chips.

I am thinking to get a finer wire mesh put in front of it but this may hinder air flow.

Looks good. Ultimate sleeper!
Whats the dyno figures?

Initially the car put out 130KW at the wheels. This was its first ever tune, a bit rich to test the waters and at only 6psi.

It also had a fully stock exhaust which has since been upgraded to a 3" turboback to 4" magnaflow muffler.

I will post the graph and exhaust pics up tonight!

Very cool. Where about's did you get the install done?

At first I tried to do it myself, but with limited time-tools-space (engine bay has 1mm clearance every direction lol) I ended up sending it to Chasers who did an excellent job. They also did my tuning which made things more simple.

xenonkuraz
05-01-2013, 02:53 PM
oh wow i really like the carbon wrap...where did u guys the wrap and how much was it?

I did it myself. At the time carbon wrap was going for $100 a metre (the good 3m dinoc stuff) but now you can get the equivalent quality for $25-30 per metre.

xenonkuraz
05-01-2013, 02:56 PM
I am now considering raising the boost level to 10psi with an all out tune. Previously the car struggled to keep traction but now I'm running 9.5" wide wheels up the front with good tyres I rarely get torque steer or wheel hopping.

Suspension mods are also on the list but for those stance lovers sorry to disappoint - I will not be lowering the car. I love the standard ride height for daily driving and it also looks more sleeper ;)

What does it make now?

xenonkuraz
05-01-2013, 05:25 PM
I haven't put it on the dyno since modding the exhaust but I would estimate it to be around 145KW atw? Will be doing a power run soon.

I had the boost raised with a manual bleed control previously but the car didnt like it at all. This time I will be using the Apexi AVCR.

Nice graph. Boost comes on early nice and steady. Torqe line looks steady as well.
If you had the 3inch tbe zorst mated to 2.5 inch diff back will give u more back pressure and little more torque.
But still this is orsm for front wheel drive.

xenonkuraz
06-01-2013, 01:32 PM
I've always been a believer in less back pressure = more power. Which is why I went straight for the 3" tbe. Since fitting the exhaust, boost comes on even earlier through the band and is very linear. Sometimes it's hard to tell if you're boosting because it feels so natural. Need to listen out for the turbo spooling ;)

Looks fantastic mate.

Is it lowered? Looks a little high in the last pic of the Advans but that may just be the lighting/color of the rims.

And how's the spool response with the pipe length?

Keen to see your new figures :D

It's on stock ride height. I like the height but I need it a bit stiffer.

The turbo spools almost instantly on acceleration, on any gear. No lag whatsoever but no one believes me until they get behind the wheel!

bump.

which exhaust shop made exhaust man?

Not a shop so much.

I went to a backyard joint trying to save a few coin but it ended up costing me as much as any shop would have, just over $600 with my own parts. However the difference is workmanship. As you can see, full lobster welds of the best quality.

Abe @ Havoc Fabrications; mainly does drift car parts, intercooler piping, intake pipes.

He does amazing work and is highly recognised in the drifting community with his own drift cars!

hmmm watched the top vid, wonder why your spool is so quiet?

I had the gt28r and the spool sound was like a r33gtst or vl lol

maybe the filter position in the engine bay I reckon,it might muffle the sound a bit

xenonkuraz
06-01-2013, 10:27 PM
I think its just the video.

You can hear it very loudly in the cabin, more so because the turbo is just infront of the firewall.

But also at that time I didn't have an open element filter, so it did muffle the spooling sound.

I'm using a BMC airbox at the moment and its still noticeable even with the cold air induction.

Without even tuning it I have noticed an enormous gain in torque and response.

I went from 2.5" alloy to 3" stainless steel.

The guy did a similar intake upgrade to another client's R33 and it made 30KW!

Can't wait to do a power run on the dyno

I saw a dyno sheet that showed 214KW before the new intake pipe, and 245KW after.

haha yeah I never really noticed it was 2.5" until recently...always assumed it was 3" because thats what the MAF housing is but forgot that there was a reducer between.

It's a generic, I've used an Apexi and it didn't flow as well. I find the 3A ones flow best

Hi Xenon, Great build. I live down the road from you and i see your FD at the shops from time to time and it looks and sounds awesome.
I was just wondering if you know anyone that has a nice set of coilovers for sale. My Car is currently sitting on Eibach pro series springs
but i want to get proper suspension parts to save my shocks. I tried OTR and they quoted me $1,300 for BC-BR and Fulcrum suspension
quoted me $1,400 for Tein Street Advance but its for the Type-R in Japan. So im not sure if it will fit on the AUDM civics :(

Thanks
