Hi all,
I have joined this forum for 2 reasons. I would like to meet some Honda Legend enthusiasts.
I have an 89 Legend which I have loved.. and I mean loved, it hold so many sentimental memories and well, it is a joy to drive.
Well it was.
I helped a friend out who desperately needed a car, after 3 months and phone calls from mutual friends said her deadbeat spouse was thrashing it.
I took it back and was saddened to see superfical damage and well the transmission was fercuooked.

I took it back basically for pallative care, only a couple of trips and she passed away last night in a spectacular blowout , did a oil dump and died.
I don;t want to get rid of her, I certainly do not want her scrapped.
Does anyone have any ideas? Its registered till may, and well money is tight, but I would like some solutions or ideas in what can be done?
Thanks Mia

Ahh damn man
Very sorry to hear
Welcome to OzHonda - in a not so good way
Post up pics from her heyday and the damage
If she did an oil dump - might of blown out the block?
Does she start?
Start... but die?
Coolant everywhere?

Solutions...
Take crowbar to said deadbeat
Ask/demand money from your friend who let her deadbeat spouse drive it - who the hell does that with other peoples property
Goodluck man
And sorry again :(

Um, I dont know what happened, when it was returned, she had pushed in the emblem on the wheel thinking it was the horn and it was slipping in reverse and also accelerating. It was making a bit of a noise too.. the neighbour said something was about to drop out.?
I parked it for 3 weeks and then was asked to move it, and I started it reversed and re parked and saw a huge oilly mess. Cannot tell if transmission oil or not. Made a loud noise and then refused to work..
There are pictures on gumtree on um NSW lake Maquarie but I will have to learn how to post pictures here.
Thank you for the Welcome. I LOVED that car.

I think from what we have gathered is to not let girls who have abusive partners borrow our cars?

But seriously man
Try and get some money back man
You helped out and in return got shit in your face

And that car looked like it was in a very good minty condition

Oh indeed, I have learnt my lesson. Too be honest, I was happy just to get the car back before it was damaged. I learnt my lesson not to help out bogans, and thats why i am here. They have no money, and no proof they could argue it was in poor condition when they had use off it. I know I worked so hard making sure everything was running smoothly, not a drop of oil was leaking and serviced so often the mechanic often said the sparks didnt even need changing.
I dont want to have her trashed... scrapped the body has superficial damage, no rust and it drove so beautifully. New gearbox needed, but I am unsure how much damage was done now. I know she doesnt drive. I was told I could get a new engine dropped in, but I suppose a lot of effort. Its not even about the money, its about the pain of watching a good car not even put to pasture ..
I know I sound probably odd, I was in love with all my VWs too.

Not anymore. It was driving .. and after the oil spill, it turned over but that was .Suspect it is serious and needs some TLC. But I cant bear the thought of scrapping her

You work right?
Pur her in N and push her into the garage
buy a cheap daily
save some penies and drop in a new motor in the future
In 2 years it will be a classic

Yeah I picked up a cheap cressida...its also 89 and it is in excellent condition. I have not worked since last march.. daughter had an accident and now requires round the clock care... for life. I rent, so the rego is on till May,, then if i let it laspse, it can be towed. No garage. That car was my freedom. When I have rare moment to myself the freedom in driving it was good for me.
I can try to store it. How much, or where can I get a different motor from. I know.. most mechanics treats me like I am stupid.. its something all us girls have to put up with.
If i knew the cost of a replacement engine, and gearbox, then I can be armed with some protection. And perhaps a reliable place to have it done..
I am still smarting for recently being charged 280 to get air con regassed..

wow. sad story, and even sadder about your daughter mate.

the legend was a nice car, quite a decent ride, slightly overpriced when launched and very ambitious trying to launch itself up there with the top guns.

I have a lot of positive comments about my cressida too... positive ones... I got it after knowing it was a one owner car and low mileage.
But the Honda.. its more than the ride, it was the memories the look, even tho just about everyone made fun of me for having the chrome wheels, dont we all deep down want more than just a family car.
My daughter will be okay, she has mental capicty aged 12 at the moment and, I have tried to go back to work but she doesnt cope well, she has flashbacks and anxiety and yeah I am needed and it may be for the long haul unless her "mind grows and catches up with her chronological age"

I think , I came here I need someone to validate I am doing the right thing by not getting Ledgy scrapped?

if you love it, what price do you put on your satisfaction? if we were to look at everything from a purely economics POV we wouldnt have done anything constructive.
